If you have to pick as your one and only

Between a 5070p vs 5970g or r ( all comparably priced ), which would you pick and why?

No brainer. 5970. It's the ultimate PP, save the split seconds and sky-moons. Also, I think the three sub-dials are more balanced than the two on the 5070. I also feel the bezel on the 5070 is too thick. Plus, 5970 has a PC in addition to the chrono.

2 icons and no wrong answer. The 5970 is the sensible choice. But for me the 5070p is a little more beautiful, so I'd choose the 5070p.

5070P without doubt

5970 is very nice but the 5070 is unique

More complicated does not mean more beautiful

I am pretty sure a 5970 will always be pretty easy to find, 5070P is another story. I think I know 4 of them for sale, worldwide … 5970 ? 40 piece or more

One day it will be VERY, VERY difficult to buy a 5070P

I think I'd go 5970, but that would be a great choice to have

Agree

5070P for its simplicity and the fantastic blue dial and its uniqueness.

looked at these pictures ….

and ….. Hell, there is nothing more beautiful than a 5070P LOL

I might even prefer a 5070 R or G or J above the 5970

Yep it's a beauty in blue, but personally I would go for a blue dial 5270G, think it looks amazing, the 5970 is a little nicer in itself, but the blue dial gives advantage, IMO, to the 5270...

Arnaud sorry there is no comparison as the 5270's are pigs for Patek that no collector's want and they sink like a submarine on secondary as a result. The 5070 and 5970 on the other hand are 2 of most desirable Pateks ever made. I had a 5270 for a short time and quickly realized what a mistake I had made and sold quickly before they sunk even more. So clearly the 5070P is one that only 150 or so were made and demand far outweighs supply and the 5270G one that well we all already know...

My favorite watch of all time in favorite metal: 5970R

And yes I had 5070P and actually prefer 5070J color combo and now own it as well. Either way with any 5070 or 5970 no wrong choice only different preferences. Couldn't imagine not owning both and that is best option always IMHO.

5970 would be my choice, and my Grail if I ever thought acquiring one entered into the realm of possibility...

5970g out of those listed. 5970p would really make me smile though!
