Nautilus: The Brand within Patek.

Hi, just putting this one out there.
Does anyone else think that now, with all the different Nautilus variations there are;
It's like a mini watch brand within patek.
In a way the Nautilus is its own brand.

Kind of like Calatrava's or world timers.

I find this comment interesting. The Calatrava is certainly in its own class, but world timers? Maybe I'm too new to this, but other than the 5131 (which may just attract buyers because of its rareness), the 5110, and maybe the 5575 because it's an anniversary piece, world timers are very unpopular. No?

Actually no World Timers are and have been popular for years! Maybe here on TRF not popular but outside of here and in Patek and watch community yes quite popular. However my point was that Nautilus is another line like WT's and Calatrava's and nothing more than that. Oh and you forgot the 5130 LOL!

I think difference is RO and ROO are the brand of AP while nautilus is just one of the gang (like calatrava world timer aquanaut etc)

Totally agree with this. There is a lot more to PP than the Nautilus while AP is all about the phenomenal RO.

More of a product line to me but I suppose nautilus in and of itself is a brand consumers identify with. Same for calatrava or submariner...

It would be similar as the Daytona is to Rolex.

Definitely an icon, but not it's own brand really. Every company in the world has to offer variety to stay alive. A cherry coke isn't a different brand just because it's a different flavor, but I understand what you're saying...:)

My impression/sense is that the Nautilus is becoming the RO of Patek. This may be accentuated in the future if PP increases production with their new facility.... who know, just my 2 cents.

What Mr. Genta has created.... quite amazing all the super popular case styles he created.

It's a topic that's interesting, if you look at most patek references they are white gold, rose, yellow or platinum. Maybe a different dial colour, yet the nautilus range has complications and all manner of various combinations.
Hence its like its own watch brand within a brand.
Just my opinion!
