Cost to service
All from same jewelry store who sends out to what they call "factory service" but not a RSC. They do fantastic work.
1680 SS Sub 1978 purchased in 1984 for $400: 1996-including mainspring, crown, tube, acrylic crystal and misc. parts: $375 2001-including mainspring, crown and crystal: $495 2010-including mainspring, crown, tube and crystal: $650 16013 TTDJ 1989 purchased in 2009 for $1,700: 2015-including mainspring, crown and tube and acrylic crystal: $890 reduced to $820 Increases seem to be gathering steam, WOW smarts especially with what I paid for the watches. Planning on giving daughter the DJ in 2018 and son the Sub in 2021 when they graduate from college but I better have them serviced when I hand them over. |

My local watchmaker told me that there is a growing shortage of new blood entering the field. I wonder how much the price increases reflect this, if any?

Good way to put it--$150/yr of ownership. That's not all that much when you consider the $$$ that have been invested.
