As the title says thinking to trade my gmt with pam 423. My gmt is 7 years old, v series.. Pam is 1 year old and still in guarantee. The seller wants 1000$ on my gmt. What do you think? For a long time I am thinking to get a leather band watch and I really want a pam. But the size is 47 mm and it's not automatic, a manuel winding one and has a 3 day power reserve gauge. It is very in good condition like brand new .. Need your advices.. Thank you..

I wouldn't do it. Never been a fan of Pam watches. Tried to like them, but can't. The size is too big, to me. The rolex will always be timeless and admired, and value will hold if that important to you. Your desire for the Pam will fade, and then you will be trying to flip it for another rolex. In my opinion, the really large watches are more of a fad. Some people disagree. But the rolex will always be perfect.

Kaan, I would buy a leather strap with end links.
Lot cheaper and gives your GMT a complete new look. Something like below. Trading a Rolex for a Pam and pay does not strike me as a good deal

Panerai make some very nice watches so if you think the PAM would get more time on your wrist than the Rolex, then go for it.

Personally though, I would stick to the GMT 2.

The trade would leave you with two Rolexes and a PAM (going by your signature) so I say go for it. Great to have some variety in the collection, plus the 423 will give you access to some strap fun. A manual winding PAM with a 3-day power reserve is a good thing

Don't let the manual versus automatic deter you, but if you are apprehensive about the size of the PAM then pass.

Since you'd still have your LVC, I say yes.
If you're good with the 47mm case (I know I am:smoking:), Panerai is a great option to have and strap shopping can be a lot of fun (and addictive).

I've tried to like Pams but they don't do it for me, and that was back when I liked 42mm plus watches.

Same for me. Went through 3..

Great watches but can't compare to Rolex in terms of style, value and quality in my humble opinion.

If the GMT isn't doing it for you anymore then I'd flip. Panerai make some very nice pieces IMO. You could also look at some of there sampler case sizes, unless you really want 47 mm

GMT and and PAM are both great watches, but I would put a rubber B strap on your GMT II-C, that will make a nice summer watch.

I stopped selling my stainless steel Rolex watches this year, so my vote is to keep the GMT, and look for other assets to sell if you really want the PAM

I now own a BLNR and PAM 422 (423 with PR on back). I like the variety of owning both. Reduces the boredom and urge to flip. Manual wind is great, no worries. Keep the GMTIIC if you can. Best Rolex SS sports model out there IMHO. You'll miss it and want it back. I did. Twice.

423 is awesome although I prefer the PR on the back. With Panerais recent price drop, I don't think I would be inclined to add that much cash to the deal.

Panerai are unique and great. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Just speaking from personal experience, I would add a PAM to the collection rather than trade a piece as nice as the GMTIIC. Good luck with your decision.

You still have the lvc so I would do it. Its a great watch. I have a 372, it is too big for me , but I just love it. Mostly wear it with a long sleeve shirt.

I really love the look of my gmt, but the historic shape and the Patina look of the pam attracts me.. I am just curious about the second hand price of the pam, I mean if I get bored of it can I sell it at a price that I can get a gmt without giving any money on it.. I really loved the domed sapphir on it.. And the calf skin leather..

This is why you don't trade ROLEX into Panerai...

If you want the Panerai...by all means get it. But if you must do so at the expense of a ROLEX....it's a BAD MOVE.

Buy the Pam when you don't have to trade a ROLEX for it..

The Pam is a super nice looking watch...but I wouldn't trade a GMT2c for it. Add the Pam, and then if the GMT is no longer needed, sell it outright for cash.

I wouldn't pay more than $6500 for the Panerai. How much can you get if you sold the GMT separately? From there, do the math and see what's the better option for you.

I would never trade unless the "deal" is in my favor.

Given your collection, I would trade to Panerai in a heartbeat in order to mix things up. You will need to decide if the 423 is the right option, though, with the PR on the dial (many PAM DNA purists aren't fans, but, if you love it, go for it).
