Just got my 1st but what's with the bar code on the side?

It's an Explorer II with the black dial.
I got it from an AD, everything so far looks fantastic but I'm curious as to why there's a bar code on the side of the watch?
It's an M serial with the engraved inner bezel.

Thanks for any help, pics to follow!

Run it over the barcode scaner at the supermarket, and see what happens

Congrats. Enjoy your new watch.....

As long as you wrap your wrist in aluminum foil before putting your watch on, there's no need to remove the bar code

Oh, and congrats on a GREAT watch!!!
I took some pics of mine last week, did you see? http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=41007

And I also took this one last week:

Great photos from DSJ, and possibly my favorite Rolex (I go back and forth between the white and black face).

If that's a real Rolex, where's the bar code? :-) And what is the barcode for anyway?
