Ive been on this forum for a couple of months, its really quite addictive. I recently moved to San Diego frm the East coast and am looking for my first Rolex. Been searching the forum to help me decide between the SD, Sub and the new GMT IIc...all awesome watches.

Tough call to be sure, but I would probably go with the Sub as your first. Classic in every sense of the word.

My feeling is, if you go with another choice, you will only wind up getting a Sub sometime. Might as well start with one!

Best way to decide is to try all three and see which feels right on your wrist.

i have both, the sub gets all the wear .
the polished center link on the gmt II c is a bit much for me.
They are as stated" both great watches".....

I have the TT GMT IIc and the SS Date Submariner. My TT GMT is my favorite but I like having both of them. Welcome to TRF and once you hang around for awhile you will make up your mind. It's a good idea to go to an AD and try on several of them and see which one smiles back at you.

I've owned all three but no longer have the SD or GMT IIc - just personal preference I guess. Try them all on and go with your favorite. Good luck and enjoy the piece when you make your final decision

I would have to take the GMT mainly because of the maxi dial. But I also like the new movement. But for those factors I might prefer the SD as I like it's robustness, they will cease production shortly upon release of the Deepsea SD and it doesn't have a cyclops on the crystal.

Basically, you can't go wrong with any selection, but go and try and buy the one that calls to you.
