This may be expensive
I stopped by my local AD yesterday to try on SS Daytona with the white face. Well no shocker they didn't have one in.
So the lady behind the counter asks if I am familiar with AP. I say yes and we walk over to the AP counter. She pulls out a SS ROC with the white face... I think I am in love... I had just reached a point where the 12K on the Daytona was sounding like a good idea, but I think if I go that route now I will be left wanting. sorry for the bad pic |

I never liked my Daytona.....which made way for my Diver. No regrets whatsoever.

Sorry to say this but that looks like a perfect fit.
Daytona never did much for me personally. Look forward to the incomings. |

It looks great. As does a Daytona. Just a matter of personal preference as both watches are gorgeous.

It felt great on my wrist... at this point its going to take some time for me to get the courage (for lack of a better word) to pull the trigger. I think I have myself convinced this is the way to go.

Looks good on your wrist!
Daytona and ROC are great watches. Tough choice. Do you need a date function? |

You will be left wanting. No comparison between the Daytona and a ROC.
Once you notice the non-symmetrical dial of the current Daytona, you can never unsee it. |

Ok...I've looked again and can see what you're getting at. I've never noticed this before, and so would not say that it bothers me personally. I (briefly) owned a 116520 but this was not one of the many reasons why I didn't love it.

At this price point, date windows and wheels should be correctly oriented – sorry, but as much as the rest is very nice, the date feature drags it down, and shows complete laziness and cheapness in design.
If Seiko can do it on sub $2K Anantas, as can some micro-brands, then there's no excuse for it from AP. If you're going to seriously consider switching from a Daytona, do yourself a favour and look at the VC Overseas Chronograph, with its big date at 12. |

I think the ROC is good choice. The RO is as classics and iconic as Daytona.

As others pointed out, looks perfect on your wrist.
Daytona is an amazing piece for sure but after owning it for a bit I'm now on the hunt for 15400 silver dial.
