So I've posted a few threads, and even replies as this Rolex addiction has bit me hard.

Since my anniversary in May ( and only 30 years old ) I have acquired the 1984 Blue Face Date Just and the 2005 Exlorer ii. I recently was in conversation on here about trading both of them in to get a BLNR....... Which I have absolutely fell in love with.

Butttttttt..... I am trying to let the "smart" angel on the shoulder, instead of the little red devil on the other dictate where the priorities are ha ha.

As dumb as it sounds I did one of those vin diagram to help figure out my "first world problem." And so far I think I have come up with the most simple of solutions.

Right now I have 2 beautiful Rolex watches, (one of which if Diamonds were added, I could give to my wife. I don't make millions of dollars, and walking around wearing a 10k $ may be a little overkill for me at this moment.

The watches I purchased represent THIS time in my life. I think I'll probably wait down the road and ADD a watch to the collection, rather that erase the collection and leave me with only 1 (even though the BLNR is just stunning.)

Maybe wait for a promotion, or another great life achievement. As I've always known about myself, when I go full throttle, I tend to go FULL THROTTLE. I probably should just enjoy the luxuries in front of me now and have fun with them.

But then again.... the BLNR is sooooooo amazing ha ha ha ha.

Give the DJ to the wife and trade the Explorer.
You'll be pretty content with the BLNR. Maybe in a few years and few promotions you can start going towards a dress watch.

It's a great problem to have lol 1 x rolex or 2 x rolex , I tried a new date just 2 on in blue with fluted bezel and was so surprised how well if looked compared to the dssd i wear it was a great size , as for one watch yes a sports for jeans and tee shirt and now I'm thinking DJ2 for shirt and tie .

As Zama said, we only need one watch . . . We also don't need our one watch to be anything more than a $300-$400. There are plenty of $400 watches that are very decent and will last a long time. My father has been wearing the same Seiko automatic for 20+ years and it's still in one piece and telling the time accurately. So this isn't about need.

There's a reason you like/love and own Rolex watches. I don't know about you, but for me, simply telling the time has nothing to do with it. The feel, the appearance, the prestige, knowing I'm wearing this watch because I reached a goal I set for myself—these are the reasons I bought mine, and it's why I'll buy another. And I'll have to save for it.

For some, buying a Rolex is/was goal oriented and requires serious saving. For some it's an impulse buy and parking change. And then there's everything in between. Either way, the enjoyment and satisfaction is a big part of it, and to me, that is what matters.

You only live once and you can't take your money with you. Enjoy what you can while you can. Enjoy the "luxuries". And unlike many items we buy, these watches hold their value rather well, so you can always flip it if you choose.

You are absolutely right. But the more and more I am looking I think I am drawn more to the blue and black. If I could get my numbers on the explorer ii turned to blue or even have the pvd qrstuv or whatever it is called done to it. I know I would be more than satisfied now.

Hence the reason when I got the DJ it had a blue face lol.

Yeah unless I could find a person to give me a fair deal on both watches, I don't think I could do the BLNR. Whose the best person to talk to on here about if if I decide to go that route. You guys aren't making this easier lol.

Use eBay and Chrono24 to check the value. Europe is cheap for anyone shopping form the U.S. Or UK due to exchange rates and tax back.

Don't settle, but don't rush into anything. Just because you liked those two watches you bought doesn't mean you're stuck with them now. Also consider that you bought two watches, and already want to flip them - who is to say you won't want to to do that with the BLNR?

Go for it.

If you change your mind later you can sell it without too much hassle or loss.

First of all, watchwatcher.... GO KENTUCKY. I may be in the area. I agree with the settling thing... but like I said, I don't think its settling. I love the look of the Explorer ii, that is why I bought it almost immediately after the DJ. I just think I need some blue added to it. Then I would not be settling.

Tough call! You probably wouldn't miss the the dj and EX2 if you let them go for a BLNR but is it a move you can make right now? Only you can decide, I know the fever well, I have it right now. I am very FULL THROTTLE as you put it too. When I was 30 I would have done it no questions asked at 42 not so much. Probably because some of those FULL THROTTLE moves didn't play out as well as I hoped and the happiness and content with the decision I thought I would get didn't come to fruition. The wanting/coveting is actually sometimes better than the having. Once I have it then it is not long till the new wears off and then there is the next thing I must have. Just food for thought.
