Will we ever see a SkyDweller in SS?

I know the knee-jerk reaction is going to be HA! Of course not... don't ask such stupid questions you Dorklehead!!!! But, hear me out...

Yes, the SKY is a flagship product, ALMOST like a Day Date; and I doubt we will ever see the President in anything less then Gold (or plat). It is designed for a specific activity (travel) and (of course) at the opulent Rolex affectionado. Point well taken.

Well, what about the Yachtmaster II? It too, was also designed for a specific activity (Yacht racing), marketed towards the higher-end Rolex owner, and was solid Gold ONLY when it was released (remember so was the new version of the GMT II). Well, we now have YMs in Two Tone and SS....

Think it will ever get that way with the Sky Dweller?

You never know? It would not be the strangest thing they have ever done. So I would be hesitant to hop on the bandwagon flaming you for asking the question.

Huh. Interesting idea and that would be a sweet watch for sure. More likely to go SS than the DD that's for sure!

I doubt it that movement is pretty complicated for SS, it would be nice though.

Very much doubt. The movement is just too expensive for a SS watch IMHO.

I would like to see it happen. In fact, I'd like to see more options open up a bit at Rolex.

While the AD network is a key element in the Rolex value chain, I'd like to see a "Rolex on Demand" option come to the customer experience. If I know what I want, I'd like to spec it out on a website where Rolex allows me to choose the case material, the model (like GMT, Sub, SKY, Daytona), and the bracelet/strap with options. If that means I wait for 2-12 months on delivery, so be it. I can order a Ferrari that way, why not a Rolex?

So a DD in Platinum on an elastic strap? Sure!
A Daytona in TT on alligator? Absolutely!!
Sky Dweller in SS on a Glidelock bracelet with Fliplock extension?

I love the on demand Rolex idea! But they would probably get overwhelmed with ideas!
I think a SS Sky dweller is a great idea!

I wouldn't imagine they would. With it being a pretty exclusive model, the precious medal drives the price accordingly. I don't see a stainless model coming. Though I would like to see one.

Either way? I like the sky-dweller... My hope is to afford one someday regardless of materials!

I think it's a possibility. It's not a DD which Rolex position as its flagship. The SkyDweller is better compared to the YMII. It initially came in PM only and has a pretty complex movement. It eventually came in SS.

I'm not sure.

Are Rolex not trying to go the other way and make less watches in SS and more expensive more exclusive products?

I'm thinking of the BLRO as an example. Think how many they could have sold if they'd put that in the line up alongside the BLNR but decided to make it exclusive (and expensive) instead.

Just my opinion and not based on fact or knowledge...

Good luck with that said my local AD when I asked the question. Sounds doubtful but would certainly be nice.

The fact that YM II went SS makes it a reasonable question.
I'd vote no doe that one and I hope I'm wrong

I wouldn't think so...but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

The fact that it's an annual calendar suggests 'no' to me...but in that it is a traveler's watch...maybe?

That would suck if it came out in SS.......
People who owned WG YM II I'm sure we're pissed when they announced the SS model, especially when it is a nicer color combo too.

I'm guessing the YM II was not that popular because it performs such a limited function. Perhaps Rolex wanted to sell the movements they manufactured. The Skydweller has a wider appeal so Rolex will want to preserve that exclusivity. All that said, I don't have a clue what they will or won't do!
