Nautilus 5711, 5712 or AP 15202 ST, 15400ST, or 15300 ST

Hi All,

I posted a similar question on the PP forum and most recommend the Nautilus for my collection but thought I would throw it out here on the AP forum as well to get a different perspective.

My current collection is below. I am considering flipping the PAM and adding another watch to the collection. After getting my Patrimony and PP Annual Calendar, the PAM is just too big and bulky. I have decided to add another SS watch on a bracelet to give me another alternative to the GMT II during the hot summer months and something that can go casual or with a suit. I also think a blue dial would fit well with my collection so am considering either the Nautilus or Royal Oak.

Given my current collection, which do you guys think would be a better fit, Nautilus or RO? Factors I am considering are also availability, price, resale value, service cost, etc.

For those recommending the RO, can you tell me why you would recommend one over the other? Thanks for your input.

15202 would be a nice change to your current set

I picked this.
Just love it so much. The simplicity and versatility are incredible.

Beautiful collection man.
Is that a 5146? - Would love to see some more of it :)

Yep, that is a 5146g indeed, and I love it.

Wow I love this one!
Thanks for the pics. Do you dress down with it as well? - Shorts and a t shirt?
It definitely works IMO.
Wear all in good health.

I've had 5712 before but felt way too small and thin for my taste (5711 would have the same issue.) I also had the 15400 and felt it was too big for a dress watch. 15300 probably would have been pretty decent but then I was sold on the historical connection of the 15202 with the original RO.
Agreed the 15202 has more presence, especiallly for bigger wrists.
I have 6.25" wrists and I find that the 5711 is a perfect fit.
The 15202 was too large for my taste.
I guess with these two it really goes down to which wears better on your wrist, as there is no going wrong.

I haven't worn the 5146 with a t-shirt but have worn it with shorts and an oxford or long-sleeved linen shirt (with sleeves rolled up). I use the t-shirt as an opportunity to give the GMT II some wrist time.

I have tried the 5712 on and felt it wore really well on my wrist, have yet to try on AP though so definitely need to see how it feels. I have about 6.70" wrist so on the small side, I believe. I would expect the 15400 might be a little large.

The other thing that attracts me to the AP is that that would give me the holy trinity along with the PP Annual Calendar and the VC Patrimony...

Can't lose.

I like the 15202 for the unrivaled finishing on the case and bracelet. I like the 5711 for its WR...crown guards etc

Both are nearly without fault

15202 as I see you don't own any APs nor any watches with blue dials. Second I'd recommend 5711 blue.

As much as I would love to say get the 5711...You already have that sweet 5146 in the stable...

So in an effort to change it up a bit brand wise - I would go 15202 then add 5711 later.

If you want something a little bigger do the 15400 take the savings (vs 15202) and you're that much closer to the PP 5711

15202 or 5711 (had the 202 and still have the 5711)

Prefer the 5711 because of WR and quickset date.

As far as which RO, putting them each on the wrist, instantly made my choice simple.

15202 or 15300, if your collection parameter is one watch per brand. Good luck!

If just picking one of the ones you listed, the 15400 is my favorite.

But, you said you want a blue dial and are looking for something slimmer, so the 15202 for me. It gives you your blue dial, and gives you more brand diversity.

I prefer the ROs over the Nautilus line.

Beautiful collection you have!

Beautiful watch. It was all of the wonderful pics in the 15202 appreciation thread that made me reconsider what I thought was an obvious choice with the 5711.

I think my hunt for the 15202 is about to begin...

RO Jumbo for me. Love it. Perfect fit for my 6.75 wrist. Case design, bracelet, movement, dial, screws, polished angles, history....What is not to love.

5711, 15202, 15300 and 5712 in that order...

Jeeze in what list would a 5712 ever fall in last place!

Well, I had a chance to try on both the 15400 and 15300 and they both actually felt wore pretty well. Not sure which size I prefer. The RO is quite a bit heavier than the Nautilus though, not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. I found the blue in the 15400 and not sure I like the color as well as the 15202 although I actually haven't seen the Jumbo in the flesh yet.

I'd really like to try the 5711 and 15202 at the same time for an accurate comparison but as hard to find as those two pieces are, I think I'd have better luck hitting a hole in one...
