Solid 18k gold datejust vs daydate

I was dead set on a 118238 then somthing interesting caught my eyes. A solid gold on jubilee bracelet datejust. I belive its a 116238.

Can these watches compare? Whats your thoughts on the DJ 36mm in solid gold. They are the same price I would think the DJ will be much less common.

Any pros or cons to it over the daydate?

Different strokes - as they say.

For me, if I'm going solid gold I'm going for the Day Date..

I never paid too much attention to the 116238 as my grail has always been the 118238 and like Larry said above, if I was going for solid gold, it would be the Day-Date.

Now having said that, I definitely have a great amount of respect and appreciation for the 116238 and feel that it is a good alternative for anyone who wants a solid yellow gold watch that is different from the DD as I do not believe there are too many 116238's out there.

If DD's were not available, I am sure I would have picked up a 116238 instead. Are they comparable? To a certain extent, being solid gold and Rolex, but that is about it. The DD has a day function and the President bracelet and the DJ has the Jubilee bracelet, so really, it would boil down to personal preference, especially as the cost between the two watches is comparable.

I prefer jubilee bracelet to the president bracelet as long as the jubilee bracelet has a hidden clasp.

It does have a hidden clasp and the rehaut engraving i think a 2008 - 2009

It has the perfect index champange dial as surprisingly that im having trouble finding on a preowned 118238.

I think im going to continue my search atm. Wish I could try them both on side by side.

One might argue that the dial is cleaner on the Date-Just because the whole day is not spelled out on the dial as on the Day-Date.

I think we can agree that the date is useful on a watch, but most can remember the day of week without checking their watch.

That said, it is a nice complication to have the day too.

All in all I think I would go for the Day-Date. You can always get a SS Date-Just later, but you can not add a SS Day-Date later.

I think would prefer a gold jubilee versus a gold president bracelet, but they seem to be rare, specially on white gold, which is my preference. Beleive the referene for the 18k YG jubilee is 6311/8 and for the WG jubilee is 6311/9

The day date would get my interest where the oyster date not so much. I would want the day function and bracelet if I was going that route.

I don't care for the day complication. I know what day of the week it is. I also think the watch looks cleaner without another window.

I'd get the DJ.

Agreed.

I always thought the DD was kind of an old man's watch but then I tried on a gold DD with the champagne dial and it is stunningly beautiful. Especially on the wrist.

I'm a fan of the solid gold DateJust on Jubilee. I saw one in the wild a month or so ago and I couldn't take my eyes off of it. It was cool to see.

I have to agree. I saw someone wearing a gold datejust last month on the beach during my vacation. It looked really good.

I would go with a day-date if possible but the DJ (jubilee with the hidden clasp) looks great as well.
