Looking for feedback on IWC 7 day

I know they look great, that is why I'm asking. I know they take a hit on resale value, so buying right is important. I also know they have a new movement (5007 replacing 5001).

I know very little is out there yet on the 5007, but I'm reading a lot on how the 5001 is fast and requires service fairly regularly. Anyone have any comments on reliability, etc?

I'm trying to buy another watch that isn't Rolex. I think I need some more diversity in my watches.

I love my 5001-07. It does run fast, typically anywhere from 8-10 seconds fast per day. I reset it once a week and I can live with it. Mine is under warranty until January and I'm thinking of sending it just to see if IWC can slow it down some. If not, not a big deal. The watch feels great on the wrist, the size is perfect for me.

I added the Santoni strap and will probably never go back to the blue one that the watch came on. I did have one issue with the original strap. The rubber edging was peeling off. The strap itself is fine but after a few emails back and forth with IWC, they sent me a replacement for free.

One thing I would change would be the white date wheel. It would have been perfect if they could match that to the dial so it doesn't stand out as much, but it wasn't a dealbreaker for me.

One other minor change in the 5007 compared to the 5001 is the addition of the curved end straps.

Thanks for the comment on the date window and confirming the fast part. I new about the curved lugs. Double edged sword. It may look nicer, but aftermarket straps will be harder to find. Supposedly the dual barrel 5007 is supposed to improve accuracy.

Yup, the dual barrel and the use of more silicon in the springs is supposed to help accuracy.
The printing on the applied numerals and the rail track are slightly less pronounced on the new model and the curvature of the case back is also slightly different. Had both on my wrist last week and didn't feel that much different.

The Portuguese automatic is one of IWC's strongest sellers and will retain it's value relatively well.

I like the 5001/5007, but for me it would be just be a substitute for the model I really want: Lange 1815 Up/Down & end up getting flipped.

Great watch. Unless a keeper, I'd buy minty preowned. In my experience, IWC are slow movers and take a pretty big price hit

20 seconds in a week, model 5007, being worn for 11-12 hrs weekdays and resting on weekend.

The 5001-07 has one of the most beautiful dials I've ever seen. It's simple, classic and still very very bold. It wears large, but most people expect that going into it. Yes it runs a little fast...doesn't bother me.

Every single time I wear mine I smile. Can it get any better than that?

I have a 5001 with the gold numbers, I am getting a 5007 with blue numbers tomorrow. Will report back the differences.

Just got the 5007 today. The 5007 has the blue applied numbers and the 5001 has the gold applied numbers.

Thanks JF. There are things I like about both. Does one wear smaller than the other? The new one looks like the lugs are just a bit shorter.

They both wear exactly the same to me, the lugs do seem to curve down more steeply in the 5007. Seriously the differences are so subtle it's hard to tell unless you have the two right next to each other. The biggest changes are in the movement.

I find it too thick for such a beautiful piece - flipped it. Resale not good
