My SD is missing
I went away on a business trip last month, so I stashed my watches in the usual hiding spots. Now I can't find my SD. We have turned the house inside out looking for it, without any luck. Worse still, my wife insists that I took the SD with me on the trip, which means I may have left it in North Carolina.
So, how long do I wait before I report it lost and get it put on the list that Rolex keeps?

That's terrible news, David.
You need to sit back and think first. Are you sure the watch has been left behind? If so, then you can report it and hopefully your insurance should cover your loss. Good luck, buddy - JJ

Like JJ said, think long and hard before you report it. Maybe call the hotel (if you stayed in one) to see if they have your watch. I seriously doubt it would have been turned in though. Good luck finding it. Keep us posted.

Your memory seems about as good as mine. One way I sometimes find things is with the old Sherlock Holmes quote. Whenever you have examined the possible, whatever remains, no matter how improbably, must be the truth. Hope you find him.

Hang in there...I've done the same thing a number of times! I hide the damn things....then after a week or two on vacation...come home..can't find it....freak out...chill out..then methodically think about all the hidy spots I have...and ones I've thought about in the past.....after a couple of beers..clarity begins...and I walk right to it!
Call the hotel to put them on notice...then just wait a bit. It will come!

Did you visit an ADs while you were away? Maybe you discussed the watch you were wearing with the sales rep?

Yikes, it's always in the last place you saw it. Hopefully, that place is safely at home.

Relax and try to focus on things you did before you left for your business trip, try to think if you had check the time while in business trip! Are all the watches you own Rolexes? If so, try to remember which Rolex you had on during your business trip! Hope everything goes well!

There is one possibility that I don't want to think about -- that it got thrown in the trash. I know my wife did some spring cleaning, and one of the usual hiding spots got thrown away. But I think we thoroughly checked this spot before discarding it.
If the watch is not in the house, the one ray of hope is that it has a very distinctive engraving on the back that was put there by Rolex NY. If it goes in for service, I will get it back.

Better start notifying your ins company. May I ask why you hide your watches in unusual places? Why not just get a safe?

I have a safe at the office but not at home. I left early on Monday morning for a one night trip, otherwise I would have put them in the safe at work. I live out in the sticks, where break ins are not usually an issue (because we like our guns), so I usually stash the watches around the house if I only go away for one or two nights. Not anymore.

I am terribly sorry to hear this. I know how I would feel. Hope you find it soon. It seems for me that when I am trying to remember something too hard it never works. I then get pissed off and forget about it and low and behold, then is when it comes to me.

I hope you find the watch. Do you have any children? If so, did they by chance hide the watch while playing a little trick on daddy?

I bet the wifey flipped it
I would do what most people here suggest, re-think the whole situation before/after you had the watch. Most of the time when i try to stash something away secretly i have to call in the family to help me find it cause i hide stuff in the dumbest places and forget |
