Decision Process

Heading out of the country to Nova Scotia for a 30th anniversary get-away and I'm contemplating which watch to wear. Since my DJII is in the shop and I want to wear a Rolex (not one of the Tudors, Omegas or Breitling) I'm left with a decision to make.

The trip will involve changing time zones by one hour. Not something that would create a sense of disorientation but a 24 hour hand would help keep things straight, regadless. For that I have my 16700 t<25 and my 16570 Super Luminova. We are taking a cruise from Portland, ME to Nova Scotia so a Sub might be appropriate on shipboard. We'll also be going by boat on the way back and staying in a working fishing village so again a sub might be appropriate.

Since we'll be meeting strangers, wearing a flashy recognized Rolex might work either for or against us. Faulting on the conservative side I'm thinking that the 16013 and 1803 might be to readily recognized as might the GMT and Sub.

My inclination is to go with the most under the radar watch which would provide both a second time zone and good night time legibility, the ExpII mentioned earlier. The OP would also likely fly well under the radar. I'm inclined to believe this is the winner.

I would get what you like best. I own a 16570 and deal with people daily in 4 different time zones. I never use the GMT hand. I use the rotating bezel on my Sub more than anything.

Do that & one of two things'll happen....Either you'll accept what you draw, or you'll be faced with it and say "You know, that's not right...I really want to bring xxxxxx".

I think you may be overthinking this but I certainly wouldn't be worried about what others think. I'm not sure most people would even notice your watch.

It's only people like us with this unique illness that look at the watch first then the face second

Have a wonderful trip

Maybe you are slightly overthinking but then if you are lucky enough to have a selection to choose from then it can be a fun process, I'd also go with the Ex2.

A Sub really isn't appropriate here unless you plan on it sinking and going down with the ship, so you probably need to go out and buy a new Yachtmaster in order to make a better decision. The best choice would be a YM II since it's blue and white, same as the Nova Scotia flag. Do it today!

I agree with Adam and you're way over-thinking it.

That said, I'm just on my way home from a travel job and I never wear a Rolex when travelling on a job; I use my trusty Citizen Skyhawk. I've been thinking of a Rolex that'll fly under the radar and the Exp II keeps popping into my head. Still don't think I could bring myself to wear a Rolex on survey though.

We'll be staying in Lunenburg (in the historic district); looks like a quaint town.

Wear the one you like most. Nothing like being away having a good time and being able to look down at one of your favorites. To me at least, it enhances the trip.

Funny train of thought, Lol...... After reviewing the whole scenario and analyzing the big picture, the Explorer is the one.....or GMT... Lol....
