I have always preferred the smooth bezel and that is how I voted. In the past there was no question which one I would choose, however, when I recently tried on the fluted bezel it did stir some emotion in me where it never did in the past. Perhaps it is growing on me a little. Right now I would still go smooth bezel. I prefer the more casual look of the smooth bezel.

I voted smooth, as I find the fluted a bit dressy and less versatile at that size. Suits 36mm better, IMO.

Funny, it is the elegance of the fluted bezel that attracts me to it. I think it looks great in dressed down attire.

Not much choice on band from what I can see.

I agree with that comment strongly. No love for fluted on larger watches, but think it looks great on 36mm.

The smooth bezel works better for the stick dial. The Roman dial works better with the fluted bezel.

Agree. I voted fluted just because it is such a Rolex signature.

That's my favorite DJII dial. I go back and forth on which bezel is best.... Charles (saddlesc) had both (and amazing pictures of both).

i have a blue stick dial with smooth bezel. i find for the DJii with its larger proportions, the fluted bezel is too much.

For 41mm fluted is amazing! Honestly both variations are oversized and a bit inflated IMO, but the smooth bezel looks so thick and inflated I think the proportions are much more pronounced that that of the similar sized fluted. The texture of the fluted bezel just cuts through that inflated look! Actually kind of love it, especially for a watch that upon release I never thought I'd want.

This^
The DJII, which I love, I have to reluctantly accept looks a little bloated. But only with the smooth bezel. It's a lot of plain surface area and makes the bezel look even wider than it is.
With fluted bezel the DJII looks like a traditional Rolex on 'roids. In the best possible sense

This. Exactly why I got rid of my smooth bezel version. The smoothness of the bezel made it appear way too thick. The fluted bezel sort of breaks up the continuity.

I prefer the smooth bezel with oyster bracelet and fluted bezel looks best with jubilee bracelet.

Fluted bezel on a 36mm looks great. On the bigger DJ2, it catches a lot of light and has a tad too much "flash" for me. However, it is a Rolex so it's supposed to have "flash"!!!
