1675 Dial Question
I have what appears to be a MK2 matte dial in a 5.1 mil case. This dial should be way to old for this case. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I have owned several original owner 5.1mil 1675's with MK2 dials. Perfectly acceptable.
Here is a LNOS full set 5.1mil 1675 with MK2 dial I purchased in 2014. |

By 5.1 million, you had radials, Mark IV and Mark V's - all within that range. So basically, any dial was correct for that range except the Mark I and Mark II in my opinion. The Mark II was early 1970s, at least that has been the accepted range that I am familiar with. I've owned over a dozen GMTs in the 5.1 serial number range and none were a Mark II.
It might be possible. . . but not for me. If you like it, and have no issues, then that is a decision you'll have to make.

Indeed a bit late for the serial. I usually refer to these out norm configurations as "a watch with a story"... Serials too high for known/accepted year production dials. No big deal, as long as you believe the story, it does not matter, all that matters is that you are happy. |
