I am 50, and as of late, I started looking more towards Mercedes, instead of BMW. You know, a little more laid back and slighlty towards luxury than sport, but still sport included, like the AMG Products.
So, I was curious if when Rolex watch wearers get older, do most go towards PM DD's or DJ's, Skydweller's, or stay in the PM SPort watches, like the Smurf, Sub, Daytona's..?

I've had a DJ since I was 25. I'm now 52 and just bought 2 sport watches. BLNR for everyday and a Yatchmaster for my dress up watch. The DJ TT is for weddings etc or when I feel like a change...

I don't think there is a formula. My guess is the person who likes the Sub/Daytona, etc., at 30, still likes it at 50. There will be some that like PM and eventually have the means to do so, and there will be others that just prefer SS.

I'm 72 and have 2 TT DJs, a YG DD and a SS GMT-II. There was no place for me to vote, as I already have both kinds.

Actually did the gold and bling thing in my younger years, now more interested in SS and vintage.

Almost 50 now and have the vintage bug--really bad. Funny though, nice vintage sport examples are in the new PM watch price range... |

I think it also depends on what you consider a sports watch. To me, my DDII is dressy as well as sporty. IMO, a true dress watch is PM on strap non Chrono. I'm not sure I will ever own a true dress watch by my definition.

51 and still (and always) wear both. One doesn't exclude the other in my opinion. If there could only be one, it would be the SD4K.

No
I like the value of Rolex's sports watches in ss. The goal for me is always going to be the higher quality movement will always trump precious metal. Once you get into pm Rolex pricing there are watches with better movements and finishing - like AP, JLC, Lange, and Patek that come into consideration, and I would likely choose one of them over Rolex.

Started with TT DJ and moved to SS and PM sports
I know there is a DD in my future but I'm still weighing options. I don't feel any pressure to purchase right this moment. |

for me it has nothing to do with age, it has to do with taste, preferences and most of all finances!
If I could have afforded to start out with PM watches I would have. also as for taste I prefer sport only watches, and I include the DJ, DD and even SkyDweller due to its case as more dress than sport for me so if I could have, would have these at 25……and been done…. ![]() however I do enjoy SS also!…… ![]() |

Wow Tom! After looking at all those beautiful watches and trying to calculate how much $$ is there, and also trying to convert grams to ounces, to get a price per ounce, I totally forgot what my post was about in the first place...

I would guess it depends on what a person likes and wants

I started out withh ss sport and recently moved into pm. I think it depend on your finance and taste. Peopel taste, finance, and collection evolve so very hard to say what someone will like at any given time.

If I'm ever able to get a PM, it'll be a sports model in WG… If I had to make the decision right now, it'd be the BLRO.

I don't think you can really determine a formula for your question. Some prefer sport, some dress, some steel, some PM.
I'm guessing many also fall in to "all of the above" Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Rolex wearers eventually grow up and get a Patek :)
(ducking head, ready for assault) . sort of kidding, sort of not.

I tend to stick with SS sports watches that I can shower or swim in if I want. Whether Rolex, AP, PP.

I am 49. Love Submariners and the other sport models. Have NO desire to ever own a Day Date, Date Just or any other "dress watch". Just not me. Also have no desire to ever own a Patek either, even if I was a wealthy man and money was no object. Richard Mille?...maybe.
