Any GMT owners missing the red hand?

So, I guess this question is aimed at those who've worn an older 16710 GMT for a number of years and now wear a newer GMT-C instead.

I own all three variants of the 16710 in Coke, Pepsi and LN.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a new GMT-C LN but the ONE thing I would change about the watch if I could would be the green GMT hand.

I'm not a huge fan of the Bruiser, the blue just doesn't do it for me, I prefer the look of the LN.

I realise I'm not alone in finding the green GMT hand of the new LN something of an 'adjustment' from the tradition of the old red GMT hand, but I'm just curious to know what those who've owned both think of their new GMT-C's emblazoned with that bit of green?

You can always add the red hand from the white gold GMT.

That has crossed my mind but I don't think my local RSC would do that and I don't really want the watch opened up and medalled with other than by the creator.

RSC won't even entertain the idea, so you'd have to have someone else meddle with your watch.

Cant say I am missing the red hand.
However I am glad to see I am not the only Pilot looking to own both variants of the GMT, modern and vintage.
I currently own a BLNR and absolutely love it. I find that it is a great watch to wear in the cockpit, when traveling (on layovers), and on vacation as well.
The sapphire is hard to scratch, the ceramic bezel is pretty scratch resistant too, and the water resistance is top notch for when I want to swim.

I plan to add a 16750 soon.
The BLNR will still be my "go to" watch for my flights.
I cannot justify more than one variant of the older GMT personally, they wear pretty much the same, and it would make more sense for me to have the different inserts rather than different watches with pepsi/coke/ln. This is just me of course.

Naturally since I want to add one, I would like it to be a vintage, and it has to be a matte dial. They are just very special!

I am not a fan of the green hand on the new black GMT. Love the GMT hand on my BLNR.

I too am not a fan of the green and the blue hand. It just doesn't seem right. Especially the green hand.

Sure, a BLRO is the ultimate goal and I can understand Rolex wanting to keep aspects of this watch exclusive (such as precluding interchange of the ceramic pepsi bezel with a 116710LN), but it would be consistent with history for both the BLRO and LN to have red hands!! So should a platinum Coke, if ever produced.

I can see where the blue hand comes from on the BLNR - but would prefer red on the other models.

I love my BLNR as well butt if the LN had a red or blue GMT hand I would likely have purchased one before I found the BLNR. I looked long and hard at them and just and didn't care for the green

Once you get rid of the green hand you will be annoyed by the green type on the dial.

I actually think the green hand works well with the SS LN, like the blue hand on the BLNR. Not all older GMT's came with red hands (two tones, gold, and root beer models). I don't own a modern LN, but the green definitely wouldn't put me off I guess because it gives it touch of "personality".

That said, I'm not a fan of how the green hand looks on the new TT or gold models, not even the green-dialed 116718. On them, it does put me off for some reason, maybe because they should obviously be gold and making them green makes me feel like Rolex is trying to push their official color on me where it's not wanted or needed at the expense of something that IMO would naturally look better.

Unfortunately I agree with you. The green hand was what held me back from owning a LN. If it had the red hand, I would be wearing one today.

I owned a 116710 and sold it. I had a problem seeing the 24 hour hand easily. Maybe it's just my vision. I love the 16710, though.

The red is easier to see, but I do like the green hand and font on the dial. For me the improved comfort from the bracelet and easylink of the 116710 make it a better daily wearer (once I had the center links brushed)

Red would be very nice but green and blue are just as good in my book on the stainless models. Until we see a stainless Coke, we'll probably never see it on the SS model.

I think a stainless Coke would be great but I don't think we'll see one. There already is a two-tone stainless model. The next up would be platinium, and a platinum Coke seems to be a more logical progression given that Rolex decided on white gold only for the BLRO Pepsi.

If there were a stainless Pepsi, then I would have expected a stainless Coke as well

I'd love to see stainless for both Pepsi and Coke!! If anything should be stainless, it should be the Pepsi, because that is the most basic and fundamental of all GMT-Masters!

Don't miss it one bit. I love the touch of green on the dial and makes it unique among GMTs, there isn't another GMT with that color on the dial.
But I also don't miss the red hand for other reasons...

Thanks everyone. There's a lot of good opinions coming in here and some fabulous pics of some great watches. Those WG Pepsi's are beautiful and the BLNR's are calling to me as well.
I'm still leaning towards the LN as my 'do all' Rolex. I'm certain I can live with the Green Hand and Green dial lettering. What's making the decision even easier is that I can pick up a brand new one unworn for 20% off retail next week. I cannot do this with the BLNR as it is not in stock at that particular dealer, although my local AD does have one in.
For the saving I can make on the LN new, I could pretty much wear it for a year or two and flip it and lose nothing if a Coke GMT were to make an appearance for instance at Basel 2016

I wanted a GMTc as soon as it came out, but the green (and blue) GMT hand + PCL kept me from pulling the trigger. I ended getting a SDc instead and kept my 16710.

GMT stand for Greenwich Mean Time and not Redwich or Bluewich Mean Time :P
