The Hateful Eight
Has anyone else seen this movie yet? Long movie, and the beginning was a little slow, but the second half was great I thought.

Haven't seen it yet but being a Quentin Tarrantino movie I'm sure I will. Love all his films. Seems like he has a thing for westerns now? He's the ony one I know of that's even producing them anymore and it's cool that he's keeping the genre' alive, IMO!

I'll see it when it is free on HBO. I don't feel like giving him any support at the moment. I hope he learns that some people still value our police officers' safety.

If he was going to say something he could have used his podium for good, but he showed his assness instead.

While I've enjoyed some of his other films, I'm passing on QT for a while. I'll watch Star Wars instead.

Huge fan of his work. Hateful 8 is probably my least favorite of his recent films.

Not yet but I can't wait. I love all his work particularly the witty dialogue.

Okay, I guess I missed something here (not the first time that's happened). Did he speak out against officer safety? If so, I will NOT see it and will probably discard my QT dvd's.
I just googled it. Guess I missed it on the news. I've been in a "news off" mode for a while. It was starting to get to me. So, anyway, I will NOT be seeing this movie and I will toss those dvd's. Last edited by Invictus Maneo; 28 December 2015 at 11:15 AM.. Reason: Updated |

I wouldn't call QT a genius film maker. He has a genre that he excels in, but is incompetent outside his niche.
His latest leap on to the bandwagon of the moment will preclude me from seeing any of his work in the foreseeable future. |

I plan on seeing it when it comes here (Jan 7th). I'm a sucker for a modern western and a generally like QT films. I have some issues with some of his story telling, but all in all I think he does a great job and the character development is always top notch. It's shot in 70mm Panavision, so it should look great too.
For those that refuse to support him due to what was said, you can always grab a torrent of it for free. |

I agree with you. I wouldn't call him a genius, as he is very limited in genre of film he creates. He is also lucky to have very talented group of actors devoted to his film making.

i know this example is a reach, but hendrix probably couldn't do mozart and vice versa. Quote:
i wouldn't try to negate his talent but i can take away my support. that said, i do not believe the devoted actors he has are a product of luck, he is talented and has resurrected and re-launched careers into a level they likely would not have seen were it not for his direction. i suspect the devoted actors are with him as part of a symbiotic relationship

QT has a genre that he has mastered - namely QT. It's his own style and Hollywierd loves him for it. But, he's not working across the range of available media. And he hasn't mastered the craft outside his genre. He's popular and talented, in his own world. But, his statements on LE display a complete lack of awareness of the real, physical impact of words on a community. Which ironically, would be exactly the type of communication skill a true film genius would have mastered. |
