Worlds Greatest Wife + TRF = Daytona

Last month I asked the forum to give their thoughts and votes to help me decide between two watches, Submariner 116610 LV and Daytona 116520 White dial to complete my small collection.

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...Daytona+116520

I'd tried the Sub on a month or so beforehand and honestly thought it was my most likely choice although I was hesitant and wanted to be sure it was the right one for me.

The opportunity of the Daytona came out of a conversation with my AD and a bit of luck in terms of availability. I'd never seen the Daytona in the metal before so thought let's asked the forum for their opinions to help with the decision whilst I waited for him to get it for me to view and I would again like to thank everyone for participating.

When the AD opened the box and passed me the Daytona I was just blown away as to how nice it was and didn't have to second guess myself at all, it's the best watch I've ever seen and I now feel very privileged to own one.

The biggest thank you goes to my wonderful wife, Barbara, who has nursed me through health issues this year and then bought me this fantastic watch for Christmas.

Below is a picture of my collection, now complete with the Daytona.

Very nice!! I'm not so sure about your "collection complete" comment though. As a member of this forum, im finding that statement hard to believe. ;)

Congratulations on your Daytona Chris. Glad to hear that your health has improved.
I'd be remiss by not mentioning the fact that you've got a winner for a wife.

Hi Jim, yes it is, well spotted. The watch was my late fathers military issue watch, it's dated 1986. At that time he was an Air Electronics Officer flying on the Avro Vulcan in the Display team.

If you can see my Avatar it shows the watch pictured on his Vulcan Display team flying suit. I have now loaned the suit to the Vulcan to the Sky trust which maintains Vulcan XH558 and they have informed me that it is now on display in the hangar at Robin Hood Airport which is the current home of the Vulcan.

Sadly this was the last year of flight for the Vulcan but it will continue to perform fast taxi runs to the public. If you have never seen the Vulcan then check out the YouTube clip I've attached, it is a truly spectacular aircraft
