16610LV v. 116610LV

Hi,
Another this vs. that thread

I know, get "what sings" to you, but often, initial impressions are not lasting impressions, so want to get opinions across the board.

Both watches appeal to me, but only one can make into my collection. Please ignore what else I have.

16610LV;
+++ I prefer case design (more elegant vs bulky)
+ Not flashy
+ Maxi dial
- - Bracelet feels cheap ( I know, its diver's watch, but in this price range function AND form matter)

116610LV
++ Amazing Dial
++ Bracelet is best in business
+ Maxi Dial
- very green
- - I am trying to adjust to those lugs, so this is a double negative at this point. I find it to be bulky and heavy

What are your thoughts?

That would seal the deal for me too. It's a shame because the LV is a better looking watch IMHO.

A Rolex 16610LV is my next watch! Not even a close contest for me.

I kick myself on a daily basis for not buying one new when I had that chance a few years back (when they were £3.5k). I want to buy one now so I am just waiting for the right one to come along (too expensive to source from US due to import tax). The reason for liking the original over the current model is down to my strong dislike of the Maxi Case. Good luck.

I prefer the sunburst dial and bracelet/glidelock on the LVc. I find the LV's bezel to be more loud than the LVc's more subdued green.

unless you're buying to collect and not to wear, I would hands down pick the LVC (which I have). The 16610LV was never really in consideration for me. I never really liked the green color in the bezel and the clash between the black dial and green bezel just didn't work for me.

Color aside, I think you're right on with your assessments.

The proportions of the 5 digit are definitely better from a pure design standpoint. The case is a bit more elegant, not as aggressive as the super case and definitely more comfortable on the wrist.

But with all that said, I wasn't a believer of the new case design and all the sudden a switch flipped, and now I'm obsessed with it. I love the wide stance and enlarged presence. The issue of comfort disappears after a pretty short period.

Going back to color for a sec, we all know and seem to agree the LVC dial is amazing. It shows at least 4 different shades in different light and they're all incredible. The bezel color is unfortunately either for you, or not for you, but I will say it also changes color a bit depending on the light. It took me a couple times in person to really appreciate the overall color configuration of the LVC.

Ceramic vs Aluminum as kind of another one of these, you pick a side. I was indifferent for a while but after a full year of wearing my LVC I am absolutely sold on the ceramic. I think it gets more and more stunning every time I look at my wrist.

The bracelet on the LVC as we all know is magnificent. The 16610 bracelet really can't even get in the same ring.

Anyway, i think you know my vote

I like them both very much.

BUT, right now I have to give the edge to the LV. I have had both and still have the LV (in fairness, I only gave away the LVC because I asked my COO what watch he would want and he said the only one would be the green Rolex that I bought literally days before. so now it is his). In fact, since I got it, I have not taken it off (i bought it a few days after giving away the LVC).

To me, I was always concerned about the bracelet of the 5 digit watches. I no longer have concerns. In fact, I find them to be much more comfortable as they are ligther. And I have not had a need at all to make any micro adjustments with the LV, whereas I was always fiddling with the LVC.

If I were diving and I needed the glide lock, I would be all for the LVC. But for the free diving, swimming, and sport type play I get involved in, the LV is a clear winner.

It is much less in your face and he case is (and I hate to say it) cleaner and easier on the eyes.

I am honestly shocked that I have this opinion. I did not think I would. But since getting the LV, I do.

It's funny how I can basically agree with everything said here, but my favor goes towards the LVC.

I think this is one of those cases where the pros and cons can be flopped pretty easily. E.g. The LVC is a little more " in your face" as Seth put it, and I have to admit, I kind of like that about it. To me the shinier bezel, sunburst dial, wider case and added polished sides on the links all make for a little more pop. Which I dig

isn't that something?

truth is, in my opinion, they are both great looking and functioning watches. and every time i look at your pictures (and see it on my COO), i want it back.

it really all just depends on what each individual is looking for. for a lot of reasons, i like something a bit "in your face" as well.

can't go wrong with either.

i like the 16610LV...

The 116610LV is too much green for me..

For the black model, 11660LN all day. Glide lock is amazing.

id be in the old case camp though.

The LV is not very appealing to me. I say if you're going to go green - go GREEN! There are just way too many great updates on the LVC that you would miss out on. Also, LV's are going for way more than I personally think they are worth. I'm hoping to have my LVC soon. I have the next one reserved at my AD.

For a daily wearer the Hulk all the way. Solid link bracelet and CNC machined clasp are light years ahead of the former stamped steel and hollow link design.

From an investment standpoint, an early generation Kermit fetches the big bucks now and prices for safe queens and gently worn used models will continue to rise. Especially if its the lime green shaded bezel insert.

I own the Hulk and love it. After looking at hundreds of pics of it here on the forum, I went to an AD to see one in person and knew it was for me. Bought one BNIB from Jizeal one of our trusted sellers here.

The classic sub is awesome but the ceramic version can't be beat.

LV if I had to choose. The old case design outweighs the benefits of the new bracelet for me. And I also prefer the green/black combination over the all-out-green of the ceramic successor.

LV. My daily watch for the last 8 yrs.

I can't warm up to the lugs and sheen of the ceramic bezel.
