'$80,000 Rolley'

"Rolley."

Actually, I'm having second thoughts about that watch.

Maybe this thread needs to be moved.
Aqib Talib enjoys the finer things in life, like wrist watches worth as much as a small home in middle-of-nowhere America.

The Denver Broncos cornerback showed off his iced-out Rolex to reporters at media day for Super Bowl 50, which was generously shared with the world by ESPN.com's Mike Sando on Monday.

According to Sando, Talib even has a special name for his watch: "$80,000 Rolley."

The art of subtlety.

Are we actually still laughing at people saying Rolly?

Seriously, though... The watch is a horrible fake. That, or he has the only legit Sky-Dweller with lug holes lol.

I saw that and at first thought it was a lug hole, but it's a bit low for that, so I think it's just an odd reflection.

Nonetheless, I have my doubts about the watch now that I've looked at it a bit more.

At first I just took the article at a face value.

That's wild! There's always a different aesthetic out there. Would the PVD versions be the opposite of the iced look, or just a parallel universe? When I see something that I really don't like, I wonder if I am too far behind the times. Then again, I still think brown shoes look silly with black trousers.

Not sure it's a lug hole. It doesn't appear to line up well with the end link to be one. Still, hate what he's done to the watch.

I like the word Rolley myself and find the outrage over the term continually amusing.

I think the watch is of more interest here than the term, though I would say that after what has been done to that watch, Rolley is a good enough term for it.

Seriously, how is "Rolley" a cardinal sin around here when terms like Hulk, Batman and Smurf drop like F-bombs in an Irish pub?

This post is so sincere, very true my friend, I cringe at the corny nicknames and think they're way worse than "Rollie"...Plus that watch is fake as hell...Show me the receipts, "$80,000.00 Rollie"

^ THIS. We all have our own vocabulary and the right to use it.

WRT the watch...when dating in high school a friend's mom gave me some advice when I was telling her I was having trouble finding the right girl and that was...

"There's a lid out there for every trash can"

Never did figure out if I was the lid or the trash can.

I completely agree.

As for the watch, it's ruining the tats, and they're bad enough!

Exactly. There's no rhyme or reason, it's a classic double standard. If "Rollie" is a cardinal sin, then why isn't "Bluesy"? And Hulk, Smurf, Kermit....they're all far worse and yet the cadre' of self-appointed Brand Defenders out there don't dog-pile on everyone using those lame nicknames.

It's a social class thing. Knowing that I can understand the dislike for the term especially among TRF members. The term cheapens the brand.

Interesting. IMHO, deminished social class becomes more readily apparent through poor grammar, missing punctuation and the inability to articulate a basic thought in fewer than 600 words.
