Wrist Size vs Watch Size

Seems like a big topic around here is watch size vs wrist size. Thought we could use the BB as reference point to illustrate how wrist size does not correlate to the appropriateness of watch size.

Below is my old BB on my approximate 6.75 to 7.00 in wrist. Notice I wear my watch in this picture very close to my hand, which happens to be a bit skinny compared to where the watch sits best right behind my styloid process. If I moved the watch further up my arm, it would look better proportioned. Also, my wrist is not really flat or rounded. But with my wrist size, you would THINK that a 41mm watch would fit fine, right? Well like I said, it depends on wrist dimensions and where you wear your watch. I think the BB was pushing the upper limits of size for my particular wrist shape and size but i'll let you be the judge.

I have an 114060, and had a BB. The 114060 will be fine on your wrist. It's smaller than the BB in every dimension. The most noticeable of which is the thickness. To me the 114060 is more comfortable. You'll love it, congrats!

Watches always look larger in pictures because of the close perspective.

For me personally, as long as the lugs aren't hanging over the edges of your wrist, it's fine. When the lugs go beyond your wrist, it creates a gap that always looks off. The bracelet should drape your wrist.

x3. In my experience, as far as Rolex models are concerned, I've found the 40mm is the largest my 6.5" wrist can accommodate. My Omega Speedy (42mm) worked fine, so IMO the key metric is the lug-to-lug length, not case/bezel width.

I suppose wrist shape plays a pretty big role, because by my own admission, and as we agree on, if the case lugs start reaching past the edge of your wrist the watch is too big.

However I also have about a 6.5" wrist but have no issues with 44mm watches. Love them in fact! I must have a flat kind of oval shaped wrist...

Looks fine on your wrist to me. The lugs hanging over wrist is a good guideline, a little bit IMO looks fine still as the dial/bezel is smaller but there's an obvious point where it's clearly too big. But some like it as a fashion statement, just not my thing.

I'm glad you all think it looks fine on my wrist since it's been out of the stable for the past year lol.

I was pretty enamored when I tried on the SubC the very first time. Solid and comfortable. It was between that and the BLNR. Chose the SubC because I think it will age well and I had no function for the GMT. Well, that is until I just got my new job. I'll be doing fixed wing medical transports as a paramedic all over the country and internationally. May have to invest in a GMT as well.

I have 7 inch wrist and never wear more than 40mm.
But depends on you! I love the BB but I don't have it in my wish list due to its diameter! :(

I have a 6.5-6.75 inch wrist wouldn't go bigger than a 44mm. But i prefer 40mm watches as it fits better and is more comfortable.

Didn't you have a previous post about how well-fitting this watch was, and then people commented that it looked too big for you? Is that why we are doing this again?

I don't recall posting that topic but I've been wrong before. I always thought the BB fit pretty dang well on my wrist. Long since sold but still a great watch.

The BB looks fine on your wrist. I agree though that I wouldn't go bigger, but it's fine as is.

There are many factors to consider in addition to actual case size. My wrist is 6.75" and I have a 38mm Nomos Orion 38 Date that looks too big. But a 40mm Sub or 42mm Omega Speedmaster looks fine. It has more to do with dial size than case size.

42mm 216570 on 6.5" wrist is no problem...but again this is an aesthetic thing.
