Dear All,

Had 2 offers on table and had a difficult choice to make. Need your opinion on the below. A "Y" series with box and papers and the newer "V" series with cert only. The "V" series will cause more damage; around USD 400 more.

Should I opt for the chapter ring series or the earlier one? worth to pay more for the newer series?

Both are my preferred white dials fyi.

I'd go for the Y simply for the lug holes, but the V(assuming all other things being equal on condition) seems a better bet for $400 more.

Yup, for only $400 more, get the v serial with newer 3186 movement and engraved rehaut (assuming they're both in the same condition).

If the V has the 3186 movement, I'd go with that. Has the Y been serviced recently? If not, you might want to take that into consideration. Good luck.

the $400 more means little to nothing with out knowing the whole price for each watch.

maybe buy both and then decide which to keep? theres always a market for that watch; especially if bought right.

Thks.... think the 3186 will make a better choice as well...any idea how long was 16570 with 3186 movement in the market before being discon?

Which one is in the best condition. Plan on at least a minor service, pressure check. If it's a keeper box doesn't mean much. I bought a mint TT 35mm blue dial yacht-master with no box/papers for the wife and she loves it. Sent it off to Vanessa for a look over, as a matter of fact it was shipped to her before I recived it.

Id take the V, was looking at one in the for sale section. wish they were closer to NYC so I can actually check it out first

Condition should always be the driver in deciding between two watches..

The 3186 movement in early releases is a poor decision for purchase, they are known to break at the re-designed gearset.

Agreed. I believe the 3186 vs the 3185 is WAY OVER-HYPED.

ESPECIALLY the early 3186. There is no way I would pay a premium for it in a 5-digit model.

JMHO though.
