2-tone 18k Blue Submariner 16613

Hi, I'm new to the site, and probably going to buy my first rolex this weekend. My buddy has a 16613 v-series (2008) 2 tone blue sub. Are there any differences in value when it comes to serial numbers for this watch? I read an article about somebody being excited to get a z-series (2006). I like the 16613 over the 116613. He is selling it for $6,000. Is that a good deal? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Not much difference in value in those years, esp years well past gold thru the clasp, ie 2000. If in good condition that is a good price. As a friend he could maybe knock $500 off, mates rates.

both references ... The 16613LB and also the new
116613LB ... I've had both and each have their

Good price if it is in good shape. Love the 16613LB, one of my all time favorites.

One of the difference for the newer Blusey is the links are solid 18k yellow gold links vs hollow in the later models. Both are great watches and that's a great price.

How many years before the band "stretches" with the hollow links? On average, how much is a new band?

Do you guys think for my first rolly this is a good choice? I'm open to ideas. Is the TT too casual or do you think I could wear a suit?

Don't call it a rolly. Call it a bluesy. It's a great first Rolex. It's fine with a suit. Wear it snug and keep the strap clean and it won't stretch!

6K is a great price, I have a T series serial number on mine, not too much difference. Go for it.

Hi all, thanks for the feedback. I got my first Rolex this past weekend, and couldn't be happier!

Roadie, how does keeping the strap clean prevent the bracelet from stretching?uploadfromtaptalk1458241874833.jpg

Dirt and debris is what stretches the bracelet. The dirt gets in between the pin and shaft and wear it out slowly

Great wrist shot - Killer piece, sounds like you got it at a great price. Condition is always a factor along with having everything double checked by a Rolex certified Jeweler.

If the watch keeps perfect time is it necessary to get it serviced if it has been 8 years since the date of purchase?

Congrats and you made the right choice. This piece is such an iconic Rolex watch so take good care of it. Rolex are bullet proof watches from what I know so they are low in maintenance. Just keep it clean and shiny and your good to go.

Good price on a great watch.
I would send it in for service just to make sure all is well. If all is well it shouldn't be expensive. Others will say don't worry about it. It's up to you. For my $ the service is cheap compared to the cost of the watch.
