Is it just me or does anyone else think the new Air King is based on the Rolex dials from the cockpit from project Bloodhound (1,000 mile per hour land speed record car)

Wow, well observed! Looks like a direct inspiration. On a side note, loved this release from Rolex. Looks like a great "fun watch" to have in a collection, but one that could just as easily be a go to piece.

Sound link - trouble with that dial as far as I'm concerned is that it's too busy with all those numbers everywhere.
While a green seconds hand may appear a novelty now, it 15 or twenty years might it not seem rather out of place.
I'll stick with my Explorer.

Great catch OP.

I really like what this watch is. I agree with many that the dial is too busy (for my taste), but that said it is fun dial and it's love is well deserved. The green and yellow touches are home runs IMHO, and if it had just the 3 6 and 9 I would be tempted. More importantly, I very much like th idea of a 39mm Air King with funky dials, and if Rolex sees fit to offer other dial options, I am pretty confident they would roll out that would interest me.

I mentioned this a few days ago in the big AK thread, and probably someone before me. It's most definately the bloodhound dial. I read somewhere on the 16th where Rolex mentioned both in the SA,e sentence but I can't find where I read that now.
