Early 1960s GMT for review...This is my second look at this watch and as far as I can see it appears to be unchanged although the hands are showing corrosion I don't think they are changed...Comments welcome. Thanks for looking.

Do you know if the dial has been relumed? The 9 o'clock plot looks a bit sloppy and there appears to be flaking on a few others.

I'm not an expert so I'll leave authentication to others.

I thought the same thing. If the hands are original to the watch then chances are they turned the same green color and they relumed the dial. They should have done the hands too, but I do think the dial has been relumed.

interesting, non chapter gilt dial and with what looks to be earlier gilt minute and hour with a steel second. You usually see those gilt hands on pointed crown guards closed chapter ring. What's first few numbers of serial? Watch looks like some of the original chamfers left.

watch crank: I am not certain the hands are gilt. I have a GMT with similar hands and it is just that over 50 years the chrome plating has worn off and exposed the brass metal below. Look at the second hand it is starting to go as well. The tip looks gilt but the rest of it is chrome.

Could be but finish looks very good with lume. Any I have seen have steel second hands. It would make more sense to the date if plating was worn.
Finding one with all original as made parts is rare.

I don't think the dial has been relumed but I think the hands have been swapped out. I would compare the lume on the dial to known examples, HQ Milton has a nice archive as does Sheartime for comparison.

Here is my 66 that has not been relumed.

Case is pretty meaty on that one. I would be interest to see the serial number. My guess is that dial/watch is closer to the mid 60's.
I had an all original 5513 where the hands turned a greenish color and the lume plots remained fairly white. We could not identify any water damage or anything else that would indicate why the hands turned green. I simply replaced them. It was not that hard to find matching tritium hands.
Poor watch needs some poly lube....Someone help out that plexi, it would make it much easier to evaluate the dial/hands.

Now that I have my first GMT, I am now itching for a vintage piece! Love this stuff, thanks for posting for noobs like myself, trying to be a sponge! :)

The lume looks original and typical for that time frame and additionally, I would agree with watchcrank. The dial looks like the last variation of the gilt GMTs so that would put it around 1965/66, or around 1.2 - 1.4 million serial number. The hands look like they are gilt, not corroded, along with the steel sweep seconds hand as Watchcrank mentioned.

If someone is buying this watch, if you don't like the hands, source another set.
