Considering Purchase
I'm considering a PAM 523 (Luminor 1950 42mm white dial). So far I've mainly collected Rolexes.
Anything I need to consider or another model you may suggest? I have smaller wrist so anything more than 42 is too big. Should I expect to get a discount from a Panerai AD? Thanks for the info. |

I would first try on a 44mm Bertarini case model or a 45mm Radiomior before ruling them out, but, if you're set on 42 and a white dial, consider the 655, which will wear smaller than the 523 due to the thinner case (1950 case models like the 523 are quite thick) and lack of crown guard.

i've tried on the 523 few weeks ago (don't like having 123456789101112 all on the dial)
i ended up with the 524 (44mm 1950 case) and i got a 6" wrist just get a shorter strap

I have a 523 and love it. My wrist is only 6.5" and wouldn't get anything bigger than a 42mm. I have tried the 44mm and it just seems out of place on my wrist. Good luck with your purchase.

Ok....seriously. Size doesn't matter. FIT does.
There are 47mm watches I wear and 41mm watches I can't wear. It is all about the shape of your wrist and watch. I can wear a 47mm PAM 232. Love it.....favorite watch ever. I can wear a 47mm IWC Ingenious, looks big but wraps like it was made for my wrist. I cannot wear a 47mm PAM 372. Love the looks, it hates my wrist, up close. From a distance......yeah maybe. I cannot wear a 47mm IWC BP, that thing is just MASSIVE on me. I cannot wear a 41mm AP 15400. The lugs just hang out there and the bracelet doesn't wrap my wrist. Then, I try on the 15450 at 37mm and it feels like a kids watch. Point is.....try it on and you'll know pretty much instantly. If there is hesitation....give it some time, but your gut is likely right.

^ This post should be made a TRF sticky (not just for the Panerai sub-forum)!!!! Thanks, Mik.

I'm still on the fence. I've worn a Sub and GMTII daily for the past decade so it's hard for me to go to 44mm. I tried one on but didn't like the feel.
I wasn't interested in a white dial until I saw one in the shop. It is amazing looking with a dark brown or black strap. My holdup is the thickness of the case. It sits tall which isn't bad looking, just different from the Sub profile that I'm used to. |
