What's Wrong With Cellini?

I don't hear the best things about the Cellini Line(mostly from you guys/girls and I just want to know what the problem with them is. Truth is, I just paid $2200 for a Solid 14kt one - bracelet is the 14kt mesh bracelet and I think it's a perfect, simple but elegant dress watch.

Just want to know why I don't hear anything good about them from you folks.

Nothing wrong with Cellini I think. Nice Rolex too.
But some of 'em is used quartz movement. that's the problem.

My personal thoughts:
I don't think dress watches are a Rolex core-competency. I don't like the way the Cellini line looks either so I don't have much good to say about them.

While Cellini dials have "Rolex" on them, the connection between the two is pretty weak to the average person, so the status buyer usually opts for other models or brands.

Sounds like you have a watch you like though at a very reasonable price. I think a pure dress watch is something everyone that loves watches should own.

I just prefer the Oyster design and durability.

I like a Rolex on my wrist that's part gentlemen, part tough-guy, with the pedigree of an explorer and adventurer.

Me too. My tt Sub is my daily driver, but I thought the Cellini was a pretty good deal, so I got it...

Poor misunderstood Cellini, he tries hard, he's treated like the red-headed stepchild of Rolex. I have a nice solid 18k vintage Cellini which is elegant. I'd say most people don't know the differences because they've never actually seen a Rolex to begin with. But to the informed, it's true, Cellini gets a bad rap.

the Cellini to me just looks like any other watch. It doesn't look like a Rolex to me. And I'm not a fan of the quartz.

Nothing wrong with Cellini..

Rolex has the three great products, Rolex, Tudor, and Cellini..

The quality in all of them is first class, but the Rolex gets it's fame from the waterproof Oyster marketing and larger currently in-style looks.

Tudor also follows it's big-brother lead. I wish they imported to the US.

Cellini is a more budget minded option with a dressy slim look and their manual wind and Quartz offerings. Get one with a diamond band and bezel and you have a 20k piece easy.
