Thoughts on this datejust?

Considering adding this to the collection... Thoughts? Dealer claims "custom" dial, everything else original/authentic. I really like the blue, and am a fan of DJ.

Don't buy anything with a aftermarket dial, or aftermarket anything for that matter.

I have a lot to learn... Custom dial ruins the watch? Or watch is no good regardless of dial?

As far as Rolex is concerned its no longer a Rolex.
They would not service it with a non Rolex part (dial)

Resell value is greatly reduced, why not take a bit longer and find one all original

According to seller, dial is a refurbished authentic dial...

The dial is junk, but the rest of the watch may be OK. Installing "newer" style fake dials in older references (and over-polishing) seems to be a common M.O. for a lot of online/eBay grey-market resellers.

I saw a few threads about Beckertime on here... Is this watch a similar type of deal?

Yeah, there are quite a few online/eBay resellers that offer watches with "custom" or "aftermarket" dials/bezels/bracelets/etc. The problem is that if any of those parts have Rolex markings but are not genuine Rolex, they are not "custom" or "aftermarket", they are counterfeit. Some sellers are better than others regarding disclosure. The seller of the watch you posted appears to be one of the few honest ones, as they listed the dial as non-original. However, that still doesn't negate the fact that they are selling watches with fake parts, and I'd steer clear regardless. YMMV...

As mentioned, I'd steer clear regardless.

That said, I just found the eBay listing for it here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/112012351869

After seeing all the pics, most of the watch (dial, hands, winding crown and bracelet) is junk. It *might* have a genuine Rolex movement, case, & bezel, but everything else is garbage. Therefore, I retract my statement about the seller being honest (should have known better, lol). While he did disclose the non-original dial, he failed to disclose any of the other non-original parts.

You may be right. However, a lot of folks seem to make incorrect declarations here based on the date disc (magnification, font, etc.). The date disc in the OP watch appears to be the correct serif-font for a 3035 of that era. The first pic just makes in look "off" as the aftermarket glass/cyclops isn't magnifying it correctly, and is stretching/skewing it like a fun-house mirror. If you look at the other pics where you can see the disc at an angle, under the cyclops, it looks more correct. If I am missing something here, please enlighten me. Thanks!

It's a frankenwatch. There are plenty of 160XX models that come with paperwork for the asking price elsewhere. Stay away from these online dealers that sells dials, bezels, bracelets alongside watches. They are known to swap them out and resell to people that just don't know any better. When you try to service the watch at the RSC, you will be surprised in the total costs of the service due to all of the non-OEM or not original parts that were installed on the watch.

BTW, the bracelet is fake.

I wouldn't buy it solely on the 100% authentic, then they say custom dial...
