Icon5 Finding A Previously Sold Watch

Hi All! Great site here.

I know this is a long-shot but is it possible to find a Rolex watch previously sold simply by using it's serial number.

The watch was a M series SS white face Daytona.

It's hard enough tracking down a stolen watch even with its serial number, so I would say - no.

sounds/seems like a 'needle in the haystack' undertaking.

Thanks for all the information.

I checked with who I sold it to (retailer, not AD) but he claims he can't track it. I would have thought he would keep track of who he sold it to.

Keep in mind that even if he did have his customer's name, that it wouldn't be proper to tell you who bought it.

What was your motivation to find the new owner?

I don't need to know the customer name. I thought that would be a way to locate the watch.

I just want the watch back.

Very unlikely, unless the new owner spell out his serial number openly in a forum and you can google it.

There's a minimal chance of success but also a minimal effort to search watchrecon weekly. Just search under the Rolex brand, type in the reference and look. You could also simply try typing in the letter m. Also keep an eye on the location of the watches for sale. Again, it's all very unlikely but not impossible.

Thanks. I will try this.

Most listings only list the first letter of the serial number.

Understood, but there's gotta be only so many m series daytonas for sale at any given time. If you found one you could be a PM away from asking for the the serial number from the seller.

here's a thought: post a WTB in every/all watch sites (plus Craigslist if you are feeling adventurous) specifying: serial #/M series SS white face Daytona.

Best of luck

I once dumped a girl and later realized I made a mistake and wanted her back but it was impossible to get her back so I found a girl who looked exactly like her she was practically her twin and that made everything better again I hope you can find a similar solution though it's like next to impossible to find an identical version of your watch I know.

I like your way of thinking.

I've ordered the new ceramic as well. But I'll still give finding the original a shot.

That's the spirit.

If you fell in love with the first identical twin, you'll quickly fall in love with her sister. And then you can tell all your friends you did 'em both, pretty cool.

Slim--- although there's always a chance. I've seen parts and watches I've flipped over the years show up all over the world. One neat thing was a new Daytona dial..: that thing is probably still bouncing around new and unused. So there is a chance...

I'm the eternal optimist. I won't obsess over it, but as long as there's a chance, I'm hopeful

Just contact your nearest RSC. If it's ever been in for service they would know who the owner of record was at that time. Just ask them to call that person, and if they still own the watch tell them to make an offer on your behalf.

EZ Peezy!

only kidding.
