Inheriting my first Rolex

Hello everyone! I have been a roamer on the boards for a while and decided the time has come for my first post!

This 1803 day-date was purchased by my grandfather in Orlando, FL in 1967 (1.9 mil serial #). Still trying to hunt down a couple of pics of him wearing it from when my dad was a kid. Anyways....with my dad not being a huge watch wearer, it has been in the safe for the past 10 years.

I was extremely surprised and blessed to receive this as a graduation gift from college last month. I know my grandfather is smiling down knowing that this will see many more decades of use!

I couldn't be happier! A before and after picture of the service as well.

Thanks for the look!

-Kyle

Congratulations! Very nice of your Father to pass that to you for all you hard work in college. You are 100% right about your Grandfather looking down on you and every time you look at your/his DD you will think of him. AWESOME!

Beautiful!!! After reading the first sentence, I was going to suggest a service but you beat me to it!! Take good care of it (I'm sure you will) and pass it along to your son someday.

Not really sure what happened to the original bracelet! This is the one I have, and the one that will stay.

Inheriting my first Rolex

Wonderful story.
Awesome graduation into the world of your future career with a talisman of where your roots lay.
One day, when it may look dark and forbidding, just look down and realize there's always someone pulling for you up there...
