Any Rolex regrets?
Do you have any Rolex regrets?
Perhaps you missed out on a great deal, bad trade-in, change of heart after purchase, waited too long for your first Rolex, etc... |

My only regret was not purchasing a Rolex sooner. I've been into watches since I was young but spent a decent amount of money on other cheaper brands before buying my first in 2014.

Should have skipped tag heuer and breiling and move on straight to rolex much ealier.
Saying that my interest with watches started with collecting seiko divers and I would not skip this period. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk |

I bought a beat up 16753 root beer here at the forum. It was missing the complete bezel and needed new dial, hands, crystal and crown + service. The case however was fat and the TT jubilee was surprisingly tight. I had RSC do the watch up with new everything. It turned out beautiful. After a while I traded it for a Reverso grande duo bla bla. The Reverso let me down so hard. After a week I was desperate to shift it. I ended up selling it back to the guy I bought it from, unfortunately the root beer was already gone.

Eh...I could have done a few things smarter/better along the way, but I'm pretty happy where I'm at.
Life's too short for regrets. Especially when you think it's just a watch. |

I regret my brief flirtation with Panerai. As far as Rolex goes, I never should have sold my Milgauss.

I regret I didn't purchase a Tudor Submariner when they had mercedes hands. Now they are priced way too high for me. It's a beautiful looking watch but I just can not see spending $3500 for a 20 yr old watch with a ETA-2824 movement. I have 2 Squale watches with the same movement that cost $550. My Squale watches keep great time & people always mistake them for rolexes. Does anyone else feel the same way?

I regret not coming to this forum sooner. Bought my one and only Rolex new in '85 or so -- a two tone Datejust w/jubilee band. Have loved it ever since and worn it daily for 30 years. I was still happy with it until I came here and realized that one doesn't wear ONE watch every day or own ONE Rolex. So now I have a white dial Daytona on order.

Not getting one sooner. In my younger years ( prior to having four children) I wasted a lot of money on movado's, tags and breitling thinking I couldn't afford a Rolex.

not really a regret but jumping the gun too quickly on a model I thought I liked. Also buying that model from an AD instead of trusted seller here. Then lastly losing more money when I flipped it for what I truly wanted.
I am glad I was not hurting for cash as I considered it a hobby and I think with any hobby you get smarter the longer you do things. I have definitely learned a lot in a short few years of getting into watches. |

So far, rien, I take my time and don't impulse buy and that seems to have held me in good stead, and even the watches I have sold I have enjoyed wearing and I got a lot out of before moving them on to the next one.

I've never regretted buying anything, it's the not buying stuff in the past that bothers me now.

I should not have sold my ND, but it does not hurt too much because I did not lose much.

Years ago I traded my very first Rolex for another, but after a few years realizing my error David S. Williams remedied that mistake.
