Winding questions. Possible fake?

About a year ago I bought my gf a rolex date just style # 179173 from a seller here at the forum. I'm not sure if I posted pictures. Anyway I felt weird when I was winding the watch for her today. She has not used it for maybe a month. I set the time the date with no problems. Then I started to wind the watch. I don't know how may winds I did but there is a point where I can't wind it anymore. All my other Rolex do not have that "end" point where you can't wind it anymore. Since I got it here with a seller and not a store, a red flag came up in my head. Now I'm thinking if it would be a fake. Please some experts let me know if it's ok and its normal for a datejust to stop winding after let's say 40 + winds?

Assuming you bought it from one of the top guys here, there is probably a problem with the watch - crown/winding mechanism. You've had the watch for a year, is this the first time it's been given a full wind? I'd think you would have wound it fully when you gave it to her. And how has the power reserve been?

I got it from hnltime. As for the winding. I never really go over 30 winds for any of my watches. Like what I said I don't know how many winds I did to reach its limit. I tried my dssd and wind it more than x40 and a did not hit any limit. Most of my watches are sport type watches so I don't know if my gf datejust would be different.

Doesn't matter. A Perpetual will not stop winding and the mainspring will slip inside the barrel.

If it physically stopped winding at any point, it's broken. This does not mean that it is fake though.

David is an outstanding seller, there is not a question about the authenticity of the watch.

Its been a while. but what is the best way to up load a picture. Since most of the people here do not believe in my question or concern. Larry Thank you for answering. I would rather it be broken than a fake. At least if its broken, it can be fix. Again i'm trying to post a picture of the watch. give me a sec. And if you guys want a picture of the card that came with it. i will too or even my dasd. Sorry i feel frustrated that when there is an "in coming thread" everybody is so supportive but when i ask a question. it feels like everybody thinks its a lie. just saying.

I don't think anyone thinks it's a lie. Part of your question was whether it's broken or fake. Pictures will help answer part of that question. That's all.

bill thank you for your reply. Its funny i never wish so much for a watch to be just broken. It will kill be inside if i gave something fake specially to my GF. And most likely i will go get it checked out at the rolex store at beverly hills.

You bought from a reputable seller. You need to take it to a watchmaker unless it came with a Rolex warranty, then take it to an AD or send it to RSC.

Trace its been probably 1 year since i got the watch. I'm not sure if he will remember. But bill and maton12 post gave me a little better feeling since they have meet up and know david. I can breath a little better. But still i will go to BH to get it checked out. maybe something just got stuck and nothing major to fix. I really hope so.

You'd be surprised, the seller may remember you, or possibly the watch? It might be worth a shot! But, I think you will be relieved when you find out it's just in need of a "tune-up".

Good luck buddy, it will all work out HAGW

Dave and his father are good guys. I'm sure they'll help you out! They have their own watch service department. I'm sure your watch is authentic, they check every watch out (in and out) prior to putting it on the market.

That is a very good looking watch. I am no expert in fakes so I don't want to comment on that but I love the meteorite dial. As far as I know, seems like that would be very hard to fake well.

I drive by Honolulu time co. often and it's a wonderful looking store that sells some awesome watches.
