Incoming...tomorrow...
Hi Everyone,
Having kept a low profile on TRF over the last year or so, I've been reading some great posts, gaining some valuable knowledge and seeing how TRF members are so friendly and enthusiastic for others passion of the brand I thought I finally announce a new, incoming, and my first, Rolex. A quick background check, when I was told that a new bracelet for my TAG6000 was going to be over £800, the same value as the watch itself, I decided to have a hunt around for alternatives. Having never considered a Rolex in the past I started looking at IWC pilot watches, however the bracelets never appealed to me and I'm not a huge fan of leather straps. Then I came across the GMTIIc BLRO, that's it I thought, I've found exactly what want. Roll on a few months and a visit to the AD in Jersey (Channel Islands, where my wife and I have recently moved to) I came across the SS divers. This threw my first thought into doubt, with a more recent visit to the AD when they, somewhat surprisingly, had a range of SS divers including Subs, Sub ND, a SD4k and DSSD in the window so I got to try them all in one sitting....hmm decisions decisions decisions.... Two weeks ago I visited the AD again and had a chat about availability, prices, waiting lists etc. Similar to most other UK AD's they had no stock of SS divers at the time. The end of October was the earliest they thought they would receive their next stock but couldn't say what it would included. They were expecting a price rise on 1st September which didn't happened so they are now thinking 1st October. I called them up this morning to enquire further and, to my surprise, they had a delivery last Friday...a quick trip down the the AD at lunchtime and I'm the proud owner of a brand new...... |

A brand new what?? And, to be technically correct, it's "Subs, Sub w/Date..."

Incoming arrived, with thanks to Nicholas at Hettich. The dilemma was...DSSD to much of a monster for my wrist, wanted the date function so Sub (I stand corrected Jack T) was out and I have a cyclops on my Tag which I wanted to get away from....the end result a beautiful Seadweller 4000. (Although I did debate waiting until the SD4K's 50th anniversary next year to see if Rolex bought out a special edition, but who could wait that long!)
