Icon20 I've paid over list price !!! But what the hell !!!

Never in my lifetime would I have thought I'd pay over list price for a watch !
But the watch I've bought is the super cool Deepsea D Blue I'm UK based and here at the moment there's no steel sports watches to be had for what ever reason .

There's now massive waiting lists ! And months to wait just for a steel sub etc a year or more for a batman there quoting 2 yrs for a D blue if you can get on list ! And daytonas forget it !

Taking all of this in consideration and almost a certain price increase due paying over list may become the new norm ?

Paying over list today is almost the same as paying the same price in 2 years time anyway ?

What's your thoughts ?

If you can't wait for something, then you gotta pay to play. As long as you enjoy it, it doesn't matter in the long run.

taking brexit GBP fluctuations into account more likely you paid the price of 2 years earlier rather than later

That depends on how much over list you paid. I paid over MSRP for two 911's, which were very limited production, but I don't think I would do so for a watch of which many thousands probably will be made.

Grats in advance. Seems like UK is a popular destination for Rolex shopping. D Blue can be had quite easily here in the US.

Lol ! I may have paid a few pounds over list but I think I got 2 watches for the price of one as it looks like the black dial version in low light and in good light its totally different again Nothing like the black dial

Gary,

Many congratulations

I echo what you said and well done for making the purchase.

Without repeating myself, if the watches are being sourced in E.U. they are going to be over UK current list price.

Anyway, here is the post I submitted on anouther thread in case it was missed.

"And Ok, as an ex pat from the UK who unfortunately receives his monthly pension in, what used to be the old GBP......here is what has happened to me.

I hope this puts a few prices in perspective, and the gray dealers that probably have to source in the E.U.

When I purchased one in Vienna during November 2015 the exchange rate I was debited by Lloyd's was £1 = €1.4183......Great price!!

When I purchased during June of this year the exchange rate debited by Lloyd's was £1 to €1.283

Therefore my SD4K was already a little bit more expensive than the UK, but I have a super relationship with my AD in Vienna and hopefully this has now lead to......

My Daytona, due anytime now is. €11350 ...now at today's rate of €1.1247 it will cost me in my GBP £10,091.28....NOW THAT IS GONNA BE HARD.

If I was in the U.K. at this present moment in time.....I would definitely be searching for my next Rolex.

Get out there folks and get the one you want .......before the price goes up"

AGAIN, WELL DONE GARY FOR GETTING THE ONE YOU WANT

Sounds like you're only paying slightly over list. The more important thing is: making sure you love the watch - size, weight, height, etc. If everything checks out, you'll be a happy owner and forget about the premium in no time.

If you want to play you have to pay the ante and the blind!

Fair play

It'll be that price by Christmas anyway

At least the watch on the used market is very strong! Enjoy wearing it instead of waiting.

Congrats on your new D Blue! If that's your dream watch then why wait 2+ years. UK is one of the few high sales areas for Rolex for the obvious reasons of the low pound. If you waited, the price would be up anyways once currency and normal price increases are factored. Wear it in good health. Cheers!

My thoughts are you got an amazing watch that has made you happy. Just as importantly if you had any doubts you would have posted before paying up. Don't bother looking back and enjoy it!
