AD wants to hold warranty card for 12 months on BLNR UK

Title says it all had call my BLNR has arrived, 4 days after price hike (probably had it before) and AD also said they hold on to warranty cards of this model for 12 months - is this acceptable?

Hmm have heard of this before but it's AD BS if you ask me, if they say Rolex are making them do this they are talking out of their back sides...

I would imagine the most in demand and flipped model would be the SS Daytona and see below how I received mine!

Personally I wouldn't stand for it, you could refuse to purchase without it but guess they won't care as probably have someone waiting in line.

I wonder where you stand if you paid regardless of this silly clause they are trying to forums on you and as long as it's not in writing post payment demanding the card and if they refuse contact Rolex etc

I would think it's to stop you from flipping it as they BLNR has big waiting list and was the best price worldwide before price increase Monday - I am Irritated as what if I decide it's not for me after a few months - I only live 1/2 mile from this AD and bought another Rolex from them in July - I could handle 3 months but 12 months without card is stretching it

Sad and ironic thing is that it is Rolex themselves who have created the increased prospect of quick resale (and all the hype that goes with this) by severely restricting the supply of certain models. They must surely be aware of the increase in prices that high demand v their low supply generates!

You pay for a product with a warranty, of course, it is illegal for your AD to keep your warranty card for some time.
Suppose your AD goes bankrupt about 10 months, what will happen to your warranty card? Suppose you get a job
abroad and need to use your warranty in another country. This is not OK, stand up and request for your warranty card.

X1000. WTH are these AD's thinking?

And everyone wonders why the grey market is so popular!

Crap like this just reinforces the fact I will never buy a watch from a Rolex AD again. Trusted sellers rule!

Obviously, its to stop speculation and the above 'list price' reselling of newly issued/in vogue pieces, I can see some merit in it. Sorry.

No merit in it whatsoever!
It’s a commodity, that once purchased, the owner is free to do with as he pleases – no ifs, ands, or buts.

its fine with me. I just want the watch. I do flip a lot but if I managed to get a new blnr in the UK I don't see myself flipping it anytime soon.

A month I could understand but a year is a bit much. If you really want the watch I would go for it with the understanding that if it somehow really needs warranty work before a year is up that the AD would send the watch in with the warranty card.

Unfortunately I believe it has to be done through an AD, it could be through another ad? Its still completely unacceptable

I'd find another AD or go to a trusted seller....personally, if I buy the watch it's mine...card and all once I pay.

I would not accept that. Would not do business at an AD that implemented those practices either.

I agree with this.

At the end of the day, every purchase is a contract between buyer and seller and ordinary contract law applies.
So have you agreed (in writing or verbally) that this is acceptable? Or the contrary....do their terms state they will provide everything once payment is received?

See what Rolex say.

This happened to someone else on here, or something very similar, and I don't mean engraving the caseback. It is not acceptable and no way would I make that purchase.
