Forgive me if this question has been asked before

I have a 168000 that I purchased new back in 88. I thought it was 87, hence my username, but another look at the receipt makes me feel like.....
Anyway, over the past 20 plus years the watch has been back to Rolex twice. The first time because like an idiot I dropped it and it knocked the movement or something out of whack. $1200 later it was good as new again (needed a new band also $600). They also replaced the dial, as the paint on the original had spider cracks in it. I thought why not, when they asked not knowing about the extra zero in the serial number and rarity of the watch.
So my question is, did I make a mistake having Rolex change out the dial? I don't plan on selling it, it will go to my son one day. Just wondering if the value may have been lowered due to the changes Rolex made to the watch. It is far from pristine anyway, as I wear it daily and it does come in contact with 'things' while I work. Come to think of it, it is probably due for another cleaning by Rolex.

Yes, the value is lowered as a collectible because you removed the Tritium-damaged dial/hands. But if you wear it and enjoy it, it doesn't matter unless you plan on reselling it. Plus, it would be nice if you can actually read the dial instead of flaky tritium everywhere.
