Best Price for PP 5205G 001 ?

Hi,

I am planning to get me a PP 5205G 001 in 2017 (my first PP)

What would be the best deal pricewise I could get for a new one (unworn)?

I wouldn't mind going grey on this.

I would also probably be in Hong Kong in 2017 (again).

Any good deals there on this model?

Many thanks.

US$30k +/- a grand or so should be what you aim for. These are all over the place both in the AD's and grey market. Might be hard to get that price from some ADs but grey market should be ok. I've seen used sell well below that level.

Good luck. Patience will pay off in terms of getting best price.

To be under 30k it would have to be at least 3 years old! As you have seen at these levels I will defer to that experience but I certainly haven't! In fact I have had TS contact me to buy my 5205R at significantly higher figures

30k new from an AD or grey dealer isn't realistic. Closer to 38, even a bit higher.
I've seen new ones sell for 43K.

Well, I have seen grey prices for this at Euro 33k (in Europe). So it think HK might be better pricewise.

I disagree, I've been offered new with my name on the papers for $30k (some fluctuations with fx rate hence my +/-). I've also walked off the steeet in HK and been offered $33-35k for a new watch from numerous grey market dealers without much discussions.

These very examples are why I've been asking in previous posts about the lack of love for this reference. PP is not my world, and from my vantage point it seems like they can't give this one away and I couldn't , and still can't, understand why (fwiw, this is my favorite PP AC).

Back to the original topic, one has to cover some ground to find a deal. Like advice which others have given re finding a 5711; there might be waiting lists as long as our arms at some ADs but if one does a little work the watch can be found. That's how I found my 5711, no wait, no fuss, no prior relationship with the AD (who I should add is a long time and reasonably sized PP AD in the US) and a little luck on timing.

How long does a bit of work actually entail on the 5711? Anyway you obviously have this PP pricing sussed on both 5711 and 5205 so I suggest you and the OP get this bought!! Otherwise there is the potential for this to be the longest incoming in history (even beating Arnaud!) as we hunt for the cheapest watch in the world!

Have you been offered this price from a patek authorized dealer?

I would wait until I visited some ADs and trusted sellers in Hong Kong if going there early next year. There may still be some inventory overhang there. Some members from or familiar with the region could have some insights.

It's a nice watch. The black dial isn't very readable.

Actually I had the same concerns until I got one. Its actually very easy tp read and absolutely no legibility issue. It sits better on the wrist than my 5146. The criticism I have is that the day month cannot be viewed at a glance. You need to look at it....

30k for this watch new doesn't exist. Sorry guys. I know the european market well.

Check Chrono24 for a sense of where the market is.

Exactly. And the reason for my question. I have yet to see any AD offer such a price on a new one. Swiss retail is 42300chf. That would put it around 39120chf taxfree. You can compare and work out the difference with other EU countries from there.

Good luck in any case

I know people are disagreeing on what is a reasonable price for the 5205G. It is my impression that the 5205G is not as popular as the 5205R, so a discount should be possible at many places.

The new updated UK prices were posted here some time ago and the 5205G is listed at 34,820 GBP. If someone purchased the 5205G at full list price in the UK with full VAT back, at today's currency exchange rate, this would be $36K USD.

Although I am not in the market for a 5205 myself, I would think the low $30Ks USD would be possible with some discounting.
