Rolex purchase in Thailand

I am passing through Bangkok and Pattaya early January and would like to purchase a Rolex GMTc. Can anyone advise of there availability at AD, what discount if any I should expect and what the current Thai price for a GMT.

I am based in the UK so it's all a bit silly over here at the moment, most of the SS models are not available and are above RRP from grey dealers.

Any advise would be helpful.

i go to thailand every month and i wouldnt expect much discount.. the AD's are pretty firm, you will get your VAT back(most of it) at the airport (which is a nightmare at best)

Rolex is still getting good prices there and second hand is waaaaaay overpriced. If you are wanting larger watches they seem to go cheap as 42mm up is not as popular there

Thanks, it's a GMTc or Sub Date I would want. Does anyone have a current price list, and what is the VAT in Thailand?

I was in Rolex Phuket airport & Rolex Bangkok last week.
#Rolex Phuket just opened

They had the GMT in both airports at 289 000 baht.

But, as you have seen the baht is now 43.5 to the pound
This makes the GMT 6650 pounds

So...not that good, and they wouldn't discount,,,,not even 10 000 baht

Asked also about the BLNR - they have never had one.

Agree. I go to Bangkok twice a month and checked most AD and aiport. With bath exchange below 44 to sterling the deals are not so good.

Yes, it needs to go back to around 55 to make Rolex appealing.

Was pleased to see Rolex open in Phuket airport but they need the rate to move in their favour.

Remember in around 2004 when the baht was 72?

Bangkok airport would end up like Heathrow...- never any sports models in stock

What routing are you taking from UK to Thailand? You may have a better shot at a good deal at an airport AD if you plan your trip to include it.

Edit: I was in the Doha boutique last week and they had GMT's and Sub's. Their pricing was about 10% discount. If you book your flights Heathrow to BKK on Qatar Airways, you can stop into the boutique on your way.

Doha is still high if you take current sterling exchange rate but great selection.
