SDDS....... prices are a droppin

It is amazing how quickly they are dropping on various sales corners, I have been seeing them sell the low $10,000. I am not sure what MSRP is but they are getting closer and closer. The thing that is really catching my attention is how fast prices are dropping, nothing like the LV, Milgauss or the Daytona. All those models have taken a significant drop also but not this quickly, this seems to me like record time for a so called "hard to get" watch dropping in price on the secondary market.

What do you all think is causing this trend, more supply for the SDDS, the fact that it is just to big and clunky, the economy or other?

I think that the outrageous prices were being asked because there were not many of them on the market. People were willing to pay a premium because they wanted to be the first on the block with it..

However, now that they are becoming readily available in the Dealers for list, who will pay the inflated price.....hardly anybody..

From what a Rolex rep told me when I was visiting my AD, they do NOT expect any problems with supply on the SDDS. Said they caught enough crap with the IIc and the GV.

Supply is (and was always supposed to be) high.

I believe people are out of money after all the GMTc, Milgauss and anniversary Submariner sales. "Can't keep milking the cow forever."

The price drop is fairly justified as the supply for SDDS is evidently more as compared to in the past for any newly released model, so why would anybody pay a premium and also the current slow market is not favoring high $$$ sales

What do you expect? Rolex is churning them out at a record pace and how long can the market bear to have $9k divers watches selling for a premuim over list? Soon you will see them in dealer cases unsold even when discounted. Don't say I didn't warn you.

That makes sense to me, Wolfgang. At the ridiculous MSRP price on the DSSD, there are much better alternatives out there in the Rolex line up!!

Good point. The DSSD is what, 40% more than the SD? Thats a huge difference in price. I can understand why people would lean towards the more appropriately priced Submariners, GMT's and other professional models.

I bought a GV Millgauss last March for MSRP. Sold it in 3 days for $16,500. Now they are MSRP all over the US. I am just glad that I made a quick 10K and not stuck with this Albatross like many are.

The Deep Sea isn't that special of a Rolex. Similar to the new Milgauss when its first introduced.

All hype.

The SS Daytona still rule

I agree that I've seen crazy gray markets prices on all three models, and I've seen the gray market price drop on the GV and would assume that the DSSD will soon follow.

[Question: How is 12,800 ft NOT special???]

I must say that I love my Daytona, my Deep Sea and my Milgauss and was not planning on flipping any...

I think they ALL rule

Wow! Nice flip. Wish I could make a deal like that. I usually buy high and sell low.

For one, I applaud the fact that Rolex isn't feeding the GM and profit flippers by dripping out new models. If you introduce a new model, you should make it available to the market.
One could say that they may have hoped to do this with the GV had they not experienced crystal supply issues that inadvertently led to the clamor for that model in excess of true demand.

Too soon to determine price. Most AD's are promised a second unit by Christmas. But, what about next year? Like the GMT IIc, Its price (MSRP) shot up $900 by the second year. I cannot imagine the Deepsea price hike next year. Probably MSRP will be $9600? If they only deliver 3-4 per AD per year...the resale will stay high. If they flood the market... You will get one 15% off MSRP. Time will tell...

Love my Deep Sea.
Was the envy of the Rolex store owner in Mandalay Bay
the other day as they dont have them in yet... He was shocked
I had one and that they had them in Michigan before them. He
offered me cash on the spot but I declined. At first I thought
of flipping this watch as I thought it would be too big on my
6 & 3/4 in wrist but it fits and feel like a dream.

I paid MSRP and I don't think anyone should pay over, they will be
in the stores soon enough without the wait... Just wait till Feb at
latest Id bet.

I have an M SD and an M DSSD (last year of one first of other... Soooo cool!)
