Can anyone recommend any Toronto ADs?

Hey guys I'm looking to buy a 116610LN in the near future and want to know if anyone can recommend an AD in the GTA that will give a good discount for a cash purchase. I will hope for 15% but settle for 10 if possible. Also, am I way out of touch with those kind of discounts? I'm in no hurry to buy and am okay to shop around.

the ADs in Toronto don't care about cash. Same price Cash or Visa.

Try Damiani in Woodbridge. They are smaller than Raffi, but are always willing to please.

Raffi in Waterloo is graet too, ask for Pasha. Raffi at Yorkdale has had mixed reviews by some hear but I like them as well. Vahee the owner is a great guy to deal with.

As for discount 15% is asking for a lot with American buyers crossing over more frequently they don't have to discount as much. If you can buy brand new with tax included you're doing well IMO.

Good luck.

Hello ... thank u for all the helpful information here.
I know this is an old thread, hopefully someone will c and respond. When you speak about the waterloo store.....are you referring to the Raffi flagship store in Cambridge,ON or the Raffi boutique in the Conestoga Mall in Waterloo?
Thanks

Try Damiani up in Woodbridge.

Also, go into La Difference (Leslie and Hwy 7) and try to negotiate a price, if you have cash in hand you might get the 10% or at least tax off.

Raffi in Yorkdale I don't think will negotiate nor will Humbertown (but never know again cash in hand will also change things)

RDV (Bloor St) might not discount either, but call to find out.

I would shoot for at least tax off (13%) if not more, but again as these are Subs so the ADs might not discount that much as they will sell no matter what.

You could try canwatchco a TS on TRF - I think he's in Montreal.

I think you may be able to get tax off at Raffi Waterloo for what it's worth.

ADs in Toronto don't discount subs as they last less than a week before someone picks them up.

Is this the flagship store in Cambridge/waterloo or the one in the conestoga mall?

I know that there's a trusted seller in the forum that's selling a BNIB 116610LN, posted yesterday, and he's located in Toronto. PM me if you're interested, I'll give you the info.

La diff in Richmond Hill offered me no tax on a 114060 back in 2015. I had no purchase history with them. Cash or credit card did not matter to them, same deal. I ended up buying a 116000 from them. I would recommend checking them out.

Raffi yorkdale on the other hand was not willing to budge on price at all when I talked to them.

The AD's may say they don't care about you paying in cash, but trust me, they do. You ask for a higher discount and drop an envelope of cash on the counter, they'll do it. More so than with a credit card. May take some arm pulling, but it's fun.

I've done this at 3 AD'S in the GTA. DeVersaille, Raffi, and Dimiani.

I did this in Raffi a year ago for my YMII (see my Avatar)

With the YMII, walked in, asked for the YMII SS, and said I'd pay cash. Told him I'll give him $20K cash for it. He said no way. I said YES way. He said I have to phone the owner. Comes back and say owner says $20K cash NOW and it's your.s BOOM!!! I walked out an hour later with it on my wrist.

The models I've gotten the discounts on were the old SD, the DSSD, the BLNR (which I got 17% off on no less!!!!) and the YMII SS.

I like your style! Yea I tried on the sub a couple weeks ago in Raffi at Yorkdale and they were very reluctant to let me play with it...even to rotate the bezel I mean I know they're in a mall and I could just run out the door with it but really? I been in Raffi looking at other pieces before and just the vibe I get from them isn't right. I think because of the high volume of window shoppers they get all of their sales associates are on edge! lol. Glad to hear you had a good experience with them...I doubt they would budge much for a SS sub.

He pulled out the calculator with the tape and started throwing out number's at me.

He wanted to sell it to me for $21K PLUS TAX Visa.

I said $20K cash all-in.

Then he went to make the phone call.

My theory is, anyone can pull out the Visa, ask for a deal and the AD can think to themselves "I can give this guy a deal and he may still walk so I just won't be so generous". But who the heck walks in off of the street waving around $20K in cash and doesn't mean business.

Just do it. Nothing bad can come of it. Cash is also a VERY good way of establishing your limits.

Some here might say I should have thrown out $19K cash. I was thinking that with the Canadian interest rate being dropped twice by BOC for a total of 0.50% in 2015, the dollar was weak so I wasn't sure how they'd react to that lowball offer.

He's not an AD but has a great collection and is an excellent watch smith. Try sundial luxury at 21 Dundas square. Tell him Remon sent you.

I get 2 to 3 percent extra discount for cash. The dlr pays this amount to the credit card co.
So paying cash saves them this fee which they can pass on to me

Actually, the rate varies depending on what industry the retailer is in.

I know that for those in the high end jewellery business pay quite a bit more. More like double your quote.

Jewellery is the WORST in terms of merchant charges.

Doug will. Ferits right hand man. Humbertown can be quite intimidating for first time buyers compared to all the other ADs in the gta.

Yes I went in to Humbertown not long ago as well to try on the sub and get a feel for the place. Very relaxed there...probably because of their 3 security guards and double doors you have to buzz in. They let me try on the sub and a couple other pieces, but of course I didn't talk money because I wasn't in the market yet. A bit snobby though...not so sure I would make that my first stop.

La Difference is my top pick, followed very closely by Humbertown Jewelers. Third is Diamani. The two Raffi locations are nice, but they are pretty much set on price.

Just out of curiosity here as I haven't purchased new in a year, but has something changed in the last 12 months whereby an AD won't listen to any negotiating????? The only Rolex models I have come across where no negotiating would be done was on the Kermit Sub and the whiteface Daytona.

Everything else, including a basic Sub was fair game. About a week after I got my YMII, had a friend and I walk into RDV and ask about the Sub nodate. They offered 15% off and wouldn't budge from that. My buddy walked in with cash all set up for a 18% discount. Neither RDV nor he would budge so yes, AD's have their limits. My buddy did not end up getting the watch in the long run.

I can't speak to the recent trends, but with regard to your anecdote I should pay RDV a visit. 15% is right about what I'm looking for. I have no relationship with them but cash might help take care of that...

I have heard good things about Damiani here on trf. I have had good experiences myself with Raffi and also RDV. I think you should have no trouble finding someone to sell you a sub at tax in, even being a first time buyer.

Frankly I would politely offer 20% off plus tax and be prepared to settle for 15-18%. Don't say hey I need to get 20% off! Stick around talk to the salesman or saleswoman and after deliberating for awhile ask if there's room for price consideration on this piece? Then make them your offer.

I prefer to get my phone out and use my calculator, largely because that's always what the salesman does next when you ask. Then show them your bottom line out the door number. Make sure you convey you are buying today if they can meet your target price. I find sales staff appreciates you not advertising to other customers in the store, if there are any, that you are seeking a discount. I have had more success with this method as a random walk in than you would think.

Lucky for you the gta has no shortage of ADs so if you don't make a deal, no sweat! On to the next.
