Hey everyone,
So I just received a Tudor black bay blue that I purchased used from what I would consider a trusted seller. Upon receiving I combed over every little detail and everything looks good. I took the watch to a local watchmaker today to see if he could authenticate and he stated that it was authentic as far as he could tell. But as I continued looking at the watch I began to noticed that the chamfered/polishes case edges that are usually quite prominent seem to be the opposite of that. They seem quite dull and in certain spots almost non existent. Could this be something as simple as a polishing/brushing job not 100% properly done? Im having a hard time getting real good pictures of it as well. What do you guys think?

That definitely looks like it's been polished... You can compare to the new ones I have listed with sharp edges...

Thanks for input. I've never really dealt with polishing of a case. Does the polishing degrade those sharp edges? If the case has been polished and the edges dulled, I can live with that. Authenticity is my only concern.

Yep, it's definitely been polished previously. Was the seller advertising it as new/unworn/unpolished/etc.? If so, I'd have an issue. If not, and you knew you were buying a used piece, then I'd probably chalk it up to a learning experience.

Since "condition" can be a subjective term, due diligence is key before committing to a purchase (especially on a sight-unseen/internet transaction).

No it was purchased as a used piece. It was also purchased at a reasonable price. I knew I was taking a risk on this one prior to purchase. To be clear... Polished or unpolished... I freaking love this thing... It's one I have no intention of flipping so I'm not concerned about it. I simply didn't know if polishing was enough to cause this issue and again authenticity was my key here. Thank you guys for the responses.

As stated above, it's had some polishing done on it. This is unpolished. It worn.

RSC can get it back to like-new next time you get it serviced. The large BB case leaves plenty of room for a restoration polish. Some RSCs (Hong Kong for example) will even do a polish only, for much less than a service.

It looks authentic but one way you can tell is to rotate the bezel one revolution and see if it "locks" in place at 12 o'clock. An authentic BB has a different feeling click at the 12 o'clock both when moving it away from that position (should be slightly more difficult to move) and when moving into that position (click will feel and sound slightly different).
As far as I know the replicas have not been able to recreate that.

Good point for future reference. I hadn't thought of that, although the locking bezel is one if my favourite BB attributes.

Ya, everything else on the watch is on point, including the hard click at 12. Definitely writing this one up as just a bad polish job. Thanks for the responses everyone.
