Chris in England
Hi Guys. First of all great website, always something interesting to read on what is a fabulous subject. I've wanted a Rolex since I was a kid and last year bought my first; a 50th Aniversary green dial sub from my AD in Worcester. I've worn it pretty much every day for over a year now and it never fails to delight. I work as a designer and iconic design is something that never goes out of style, whether it be a car, an item of clothing, a piece of furniture or a wrist watch. The Submariner is an iconic watch, probably the most recognised in the world and what a joy to wear. Problem is what do I get next? Having bought a Rolex nothing else will do. There are plenty of great watches out there but somehow they don't have the attraction of a Rolex to me. It'll have to be a Daytona I think or maybe a GMT or maybe a Deep Sea! What a problem! Does anyone have an opinion on which models pair together the best? A sub for the day time and a daytona for the evening perhaps??

I think you will see a lot of guys (and gals) here who have a Sub and a
DateJust, seems to go well, one for sport and one for dress/sport. |

Hard to go wrong my friend. I really do not think there is a wrong answer to this question - well, the Leopard Daytona would be a bad move.... Anyway, welcome to TRF!

Hi Chris
I would endorse what Thomas has said about a Sub and a DJ complementing each other well as both allow you to ring the changes from professional to "semi-dress". Other than that its a question of whatever takes your fancy. I have a Sub and a DJ on the way but I am also hankering after a GM II c. This has the benefit of being a very recently updated model with ceramic dial and, I think, the blue Parachrom hairspring (others will correct me if I am wrong on this). And its looks are classic Rolex - that would certainly be a good choice. Welcome to the Forum - it's a great place to hang out. |

Welcome to the Forum! That's a big question, I suggest you hang around a bit, gather some information and go from there. Good Luck.

Good Day/G'day Chris
A no date Sub might be a nice pairing with your LV. The black bezel is probably a tad more versatile in terms of wardrobe matching. Possibly a good time to pick one up, with a new SS Sub arriving in maybe the next year or two... Cheers |

Cheers for now guys..

Welcome Chris
Have you looked at vintage Rolex - say a bubbleback or even older. That could double up as a dress watch also. Owning a vintage Rolex singles you out as a watch connoisseur you know !! regards Tim |
