Recommendations on a good used DD

I was fortunate enough to be gifted a 500C for Christmas by my wife and son.
This is my first Rolex, my first high end watch, and I absolutely love it...

I would love to own a good used DD, as I consider this more of a dress watch, and a completely different look....I was wandering if any particular model DD's are better than others??? I do not want to buy new, as my budget would be between $12-15k...

I would love to hear any recommendations.

Choose the PM you want. WG, YG, RG, Pt etc.
Choose a dial.
Choose a model.
There was a change to the 36mm around 2000 when it was given a heavier more substantial bracelet.

Go hunting.

You will find some very nice ones at that price point.

I have an older model 'N' in YG with the slim Roman numerals.

I'd recommend you enjoy your first watch for a while. Seriously, that's what I'd do. The 'Rolex bug' got to me a bit later into ownership. You should savour the DaytonaC for a while.
You'll have to be more specific on which DD you're looking for because there's a variety. I'd also recommend you take your time before purchasing one because your taste in dials changes ..at least mine did.

Unless you want to up your budget, I would stay away from a DD. You want at minimum a solid gold bracelet new gen which would cost 15+.

Doesn't make sense to have a nice D500 and a well worn DD that's 20 years old. (Unless you bought it new yourself 20 years ago)

With such a great new watch you have time to research and try on what you want. I would go with the most modern watch you can find and I would make sure it is complete with box and papers. I prefer the DD to have the classic look and either stick markers or Roman numerals. In YG I like the white dial and the gold roman numerals. But I am an owner so maybe I am not objective.

A good condition 18238 is in your price range. I managed to pick up a mint version and have no regrets. Good luck

I would get a YG 1803 full set in mint condition or a WG one with nice minty bracelet! With the plexi crystal and the pie pan dial, they are just amazing.
A RG 118235 on oyster will be on the top of your price range but it sure is a well built and sturdy model:

How about an oyster quartz datejust 19018 (yellow gold) or 19019 (white gold). The 19019 flies well under the radar and you get an excellent Rolex quartz movement.

You might find a 19018 with the pyramid bezel and band. That would set you apart.

just buy the best double quick set one for your budget if going 5d models. personally, i'd stick with a 36mm.
