The "is it safe" craze
Alright, the mrs is 11 weeks pregnant so my brother in law and father in law took me down to Florida for a boys trip. I brought my sub on Everest and OP. I figured I'd take pics of most of the nonsense I subject my sub to because there's been a lot of "is it safe" threads. I was going to let it go until I just saw one about wearing a sub on a roller coaster.
So, from last Thursday to Monday here's what I put my watches through. Bait fishing. Manning the boat and throwing the net Fresh water bath Scooter rides Lifting and running Golf, 18 holes and probably 300+ swings More fishing And just because it's going to rain two inches tomorrow and I miss it down there already So to all the "is it safe" guys and gals - yes it's safe. I've put this old aluminum bezel (usually on) tuna clasp watch through it all. Strap it on and attack the day. You'll have fun. And in 25+ years when someone asks you about your watch at the bar you'll be able to look down and smile saying you've done it all, together. and have a great weekend!

I don't know I see a sea hair stuck in the bezel. The jury is out.

You're crazy for subjecting that beautiful piece of jewelry to all those dangerous activities that could have ruined your watch. You better send it in for service asap! obviously looks like you had a fun time, thanks for the cool pictures

I'm in the same boat. It's a watch. I wear it doing stuff. If doing stuff breaks it, then I need a different brand.
I spent my spare time today going back and forth with a dealer about whether an Aquanaut or an AP Jumbo would hold up better to daily wear. Finally, I picked what l liked and bought it. Hope it doesn't break when I go fishing, rake the leaves, build something or god forbid, run with it. |

I've spent the last two years with a $2800 TAG-Heuer on my wrist. I almost never take it off so it has been on a couple 3 day fishing boats 100 miles off-shore in the Pacific Ocean. I shower with it, I ride my motorcycle with it, I sleep with it on my wrist, it is with me all the time and it still looks perfect. I will do the same with my Rolex when I purchase it and I expect it to perform about the same.
Hope you have some fish in your freezer from that trip. I still have a few pound of bluefin tuna and yellowtail in my freezer. |

You are plain crazy risking that delicate watch in such a dangerous situation.

Awesome. My last Rolex was a 1964 Date that I wore everyday for over 30 years. It's chipped and scratched but still ticking with service at regular intervals. Now working on the next 30 years, at least, with a brand new sub. Been golfing with it so far:) We need some warmer weather up here!

That sub can take pretty much anything, I'd forget I was wearing it. Nice pics Clark, esp Sunset over Palms.

Great pics and story. In fact, I'd say the only NOT safe thing you did was take it off your wrist to dunk it in that cup of water!

Super cool. Who else would risk using a SUBmariner under water?
