Well some people are nuts and put crazy prices for anything, nothing new there, I worked a long time in real estate, still do occasionally for friends to help out, you can't imagine but for 80% of the people their flat are just special and when they first put them on the market, they put them at crazy prices, and after they call you asking why they have no visits, "because your crappy flat is way overpriced you dummy!!!"

FWIW, you don't see NOS watches like this often so maybe the seller will get close to what he's asking? Who knows. I think the price is absurd, but somebody else may not.

just came across a NOS zenith daytona for ~19K, i absolutely understand that as a watch that was difficult to source for its entire existence,
but can not begin to fathom a market in that range for a quite common piece that is relatively recently discontinued.

I think a correction will come soon. I don't believe it will be massive, but once the panic buying stops, the secondary pieces with put together age-correct accessories will struggle to reach these stellar prices. By this time, those looking to cash in on unloved heirlooms will also add to the market increasing supply. Only the truly full-set NOS pieces will sell for whatever price us asked. .......or maybe I'm wrong.

I've been hearing about a correction in vintage market for the last 8 years or so. Prices have done nothing but move higher and higher to astronomical levels. Look at Phillip's auction results yesterday and see! There are so few truly mint examples of vintage watches out there for sale let alone complete ones. Collector's are holding on to their watches and just not parting with them thus low supply with high demand. Again I think some of the prices are crazy but they keep moving higher and higher! To think now my old perfect 6538 4 line Sub which I sold for $100K plus a few years back is now worth $500K according to Eric Ku. I never in a million years would have thought that. My old perfect complete 6263 Paul Newman which I sold for $135K a few years back now worth $350 plus. Crazy but I never saw that coming! I read lots of posts back then how the market was inflated and a serious correction was coming but the opposite! So who knows but all I know is right now we have one direction and it isn't lower.

PS What is absurd is people paying $3-5K over retail for current production watches as in 116500 and 126600! Gus you must have missed all of those as they are the most absurd for sale posts ever.

Or $5-7k over retail for a 5711...Or how about $5k over retail for an Omega Snoopy Anniversary...OK I'll stop there.

I saw one in FS and said NOS but it was worn. Isn't that false advertising? New old stock means it is new not worn but in really good shape.

I agree with you but to be really anal what you are describing should be called mint old stock.
