Submariner 40 - Sea Dweller 43 - DeepSea 44
I find it curious that Rolex did the new Sea Dweller at 43mm, with the Submariner 40mm and Deepsea 44mm, the Sea Dweller should have come in at 41.5mm to 42mm and keep the 20mm bracelet, it still would be larger for the folks who want a larger size but not so big as to push away other buyers, kind of sweet spot for a size.

Everyone has their own definition of sweet spot.
Haven't seen one in person yet but from what I've read and heard the Sea Dweller does not seem like a 43mm watch. Definitely interested to try it on. |

Yeah...numbers-wise, a lot of us were thinking the new SD (if released) would be in that 41-42mm range.
But, I will have to say, I don't think 43mm is going to push away as many potential buyers as you think. |

I can see where you're headed with this, but it truly wears smaller than 43mm IMO.
The tapered lugs and 22mm bracelet make it the perfect fit and feel at least for me You really have to try it on to see if it's right for you. |

Maybe ithe 126600 is really intended as a DSSD replacement?

DSSD represents the pinnacle of Rolex dive watch technology. I doubt it will be replaced unless something better comes out.
I tend to think of SD43 as Rolex bowing to the trend of bigger watches. I am guessing they don't have to make it 43 to accommodate the new movement. Now there are 3 different dive watch sizes for different folks. Good way to capture more market share. |

imop, the sweet spot is how it wears, and the sd43's 43mm looks more proportional than the sub-c's 40mm

I thought DSSD is 43mm in actual dimension but Rolex marketed it as 44mm? Initial press kit detailed it as 43mm.

My DSSD bezel measures 43 mm I haven't seen a SD43 in person yet to compare, but from what I can see online, it may use the same bezel as the DSSD Would make sense since it saves on production costs The dial size and hands look the same between the DSSD and SD43 as well The diameter of the new 3235 movement is the same as the 3135 Both 28.5 mm |

People pay way too much attention to mm specs marketed by Rolex and other companies. Watches 40-42mm can wear exactly the same depending on the model and brand.

The real question is: why are some people on this forum so desperate for Rolex to make a larger Sub when there are DSSD and SD43 for larger wrists?

The SD43 doesn't seem like a replacement for the DSSD as it's only similarity is that it's a Rolex dive watch of approximately the same bezel diameter.
The DSSD is a special and unique piece. The Submariner is the classic dive watch. Not really sure what the Sea-Dweller does except fill the gap between the two. Of course, you could get one just because you like it! I heard a rumour from an AD not long ago that the DSSD will be discontinued soon, then re-released in titanium a couple of years later. |

The SD43 is an experiment, they're trying something new and waiting to see if it's going to stick. The previous SD4K didn't work. I personally think the SD43 sits nicely between the Sub and the DSSD, has enough personality to survive and addresses the main issues from the previous model.

My sweet spot for a watch is 39-40mm. I do have on 42mm Seiko diver & I love it but I won't buy anything that large again.

All these while I thought DSSD was too big for my 6.5-6.75in. Glad I give it a go. It's my fav diver bar none. I owned SubC, SD4K and AP Royal Oak diver. This is the only production Rolex without cyclop now. Long live the Beast. |
