Ahhhh, it shouldn't be this difficult

I've spent weeks and weeks trying to locate the perfect 16570 Explorer II. I've finally managed to find one and was hoping to purchase in the next couple of days.

Earlier today I noticed a screw slightly proud on the bracelet of my Explorer and as I was in the area I thought I would pop into my local AD to ask them to look at it.

BIG MISTAKE

Within 5 minutes my bracelet was sorted (thanks )and I'm sat down trying on a 216570 Explorer II and a 116610LN Submariner.

Now I'm back to square one.

The 16570 is now on hold and have no idea if I should go for the 216570 or 116610LN. I did ask if they'd consider a buy one, get one free but no luck there.

It really shouldn't be this difficult




Anyway, I'm not sure what I what from this thread, just thought I'd vent my frustrations but if anyone can offer some pearls off wisdom it would be greatly received.

Do you need the Chromalight on the 216570 or is then SL fine on the 5 digit? Does the new 42mm size bother you or do you prefer it over the 5 digit? Do you prefer the orange or the red 24 hour hand? Either way, very nice and useful watches.

Didn't find it cartoonish to be honest, I know what you mean but it looks a lot better in real life than in pictures.

Previously ruled out the 42mm as too big, certainly doesn't feel that way on the wrist.

I have had both watches (and an 16570 for a short while). I love explorers for a while but then go back to the fact that it isn't a sub. For me I feel like it's going out in public naked when I don't have a sub. Both explorers are great watches but I am a submariner guy and it's hard to go with anything else. Good luck!!

I'd say that an additional trip or two to the AD is needed. No rush, none of the models you posted are rare.

FWIW, I used to have a polar 16570 and flipped it toward the 116610LV and haven't regretted it for one second.

You got to try both on in a UK shop? You are pretty lucky from what I understand. I think the only person who could answer that is you. All three watches are fantastic. I personally would get the sub.

Yeah I'm not in any real hurry, the Submariner isn't available to buy just yet anyway.

Explorers II's are in good supply in the UK but Submariners are definitely harder to come by.

I never expected them to have the Sub when I enquired but got very lucky as they had one in for another costumer. My name is now on their waiting list just incase I go with the Sub.

I dig Explorers too, but since you have one and a DJ, a Sub would make a nice trio.

Good point, it really would make a nice trio.

If I can get away I'll give them a ring in the morning to see if the customer has picked up the sub yet. Would like to try it on again.
