Daytona C help

So, through a weird set of circumstances, I have the opportunity to pick up a Daytona C in black from my AD.
I'm on the list for a white one, been waiting a while and so he said , a black is available now.

The question is- should I do it or wait for a white?

Or buy the black now and sell it when the white comes in.

My current collection is an LVc, BLNR and 5712.

Decisions, decisions!

buy it, flip it and buy a white on the grey market sounds like the most logical choice as you don't know when a white dial will come in to your AD.

Contact a seller (that has a White for sale obviously) and see if you can do a trade for a white, once that's set you can go get the black. Assuming the AD doesn't make you desticker and engrave the back...

I'd get the black and see what you think. You are missing an all black watch in your collection and the Daytona would fit the bill. Even if you wear it until the white comes in you can probably still get your money out of it. I'm in the same situation and bought the black 116500 and I'm really falling for it.

I originally liked the white dial more than the black dial but the pictures here on TRF may have flipped me to the black. Unless you cannot make the black work I would buy it, wear it and see how it goes. Down the road if the white is what you want then flip or pick it up.

If the AD lets you buy the white also then no brainer. You have to get what you like but you may end up loving the black once you own it. I thought the white dial was just to refrigerator for me. With my eyes black kills it. Buy the blacl

Oh and no seller is going to trade you straight up. It will cost you a few grand. Maybe listing in want to buy section an individual may be in your reversed situation.

I assume the AD won5 also sell you the white when it comes as he's trying to work through the list. If your name on papers is very important to you, then the flip/trade to grey dealer doesn't really help you and will still cost you 1-2k as white fetches more. So take black, and reset the wait time with another AD if you must have a Daytona asap or, pass it and keep waiting. I'd probably buy it (favoring my name on papers) then contact another ad but you'll reset your wait time and may take 1-2 years.

I may be against the grain here, but unless you are remotely interested in wearing the black, I'd pass, (unless you enjoy the art of flipping which is not for everyone).

You'll never be truly happy until you have the one you want and it just don't sound like the black is your cup of tea.

My thoughts anyway

Get the black!! Trust me you're gonna love it!! My prediction is you won't let it go, and then also own white when it comes in. If black doesn't work, sell easily. You are in a great position.

I'd pass in favor of the white as well or you can do a solid and pass the deal on to another member

Daytona C help

I'm facing the exact same situation though I was told the white won't come in before 2018. Not sure if that's a ploy or not but I think the black will win me over regardless. There's a reason so many are split in which they want!

Also what's your gut? If I'm being honest with myself I prefer the black visually but being a WIS and member of this lovely forum the history and collectibility easily started swaying me...

Good Luck!

I passed on black and 2 months later white came in. Very glad I waited. Last week I had opportunity to see black again (have owned white for 6months now) and am 100% sure I made the right decision! So my advice would be to wait if it was the white that you wanted in the first place. Go w your gut

I was very concerned I would face this very decision but a white came in first for me. I had myself talked into probably taking black but I knew white would always be in the back of my head. Owning the white now I think I will admire the black but I don't believe I will ever have the need to own one. I can't say that about the white if I would have taken the black.

If white was your must have from the beginning then just pass and wait it out. Easier said than done though I am sure.

Buy it and , I'm no more really sure about the delay, ..in1 or 2 years, ask the AD the flip the dial. I've in mind you have to wait before doing it...

I think the black is a better fit with the new ceramic bezel.

Same predicament, and I passed. The black is lovely, but I simply prefer the white dial. Also, the AD was clear that once I accepted the black dial, I was off the list for the white.

Go for the black. If you don't enjoy it, you can always flip it later.

If you can flip it down the road grab it, otherwise I'd wait for what you truly want...don't ever settle!

I'd say get the black and see how you like it. Personally I think it's incredible. You won't lose a dime if you decide to sell it so what's the risk? Have the AD keep you on the list for a white dial too - a win win. Congrats!!!

If you are still next for the white dial, go for it! If not wait.
